Peek-a-boo

Since you guys loved this top so much when I posted it on my Instagram, I wanted to share it on the blog today.  The cold-shoulder trend is one of my favorites, and when I saw this cute little number for less than $30, I immediately snatched it up.  It also comes in a pretty nude color, but it’s selling out fast, so definitely grab one while you can.  It’s SO good!

Hair Care Must-Haves

Happy Friday, sweet friends!  I get so many questions via email and on my Instagram about my hair, that I wanted to take a minute and share a few of my must-have products with all of you.  And you know what that also means? Getting a little more personal than I usually do!  So be sure to read on to see my hair story and why I swear by the below products!

About 2 years ago, I noticed that I was absolutely exhausted.  No matter how much I slept, I was tired all of the time and didn’t have a lot of energy.  I was traveling a lot for work so initially blamed it on that.  But then I started gaining a ton of weight (despite eating healthy and sticking to a strict workout routine), experiencing crazy night sweats, intense head rushes, puffy hands and feet, forgetfulness, numbness in my fingers and toes, and the biggest kicker?  My hair started falling out in handfuls.  It took a few months, lots of blood tests, and 2 different specialists to finally determine that I had an underactive thyroid and my body wasn’t producing any T3 or T4.

Once I got on the proper medication, my body regulated itself and I started feeling like my old self again.  But one of the lingering side effects was the damage done to my hair!  It was an absolute disaster.  I had so much breakage, and such large chunks had broken off in awkward places, there was no way to cover it up.  And so, in an effort to stop any further damage, my hair stylist (who is INCREDIBLE!) convinced me to go a little darker with a melt, get hair extensions to cover up the breakage, and make sure I had an arsenal of product that would protect and nourish my hair and help it to grow.

And I have to tell you guys, my hair has never been better! By using the below products, my hair is the BEST it’s ever been.  In the past year, my broken pieces have grown an incredible amount, I have shine, I have volume, and despite the dry Utah climate, my hair is growing faster and stronger than it ever has been before.  So if are looking to achieve healthier hair, definitely check out the below!Hair Care Products

  1.  Kevin Murphy Angel Wash and Rinse: I have to admit, I was a little sticker shocked when I first started using Kevin Murphy product.  BUT it has made SUCH a difference for my hair, I think it’s worth every penny.  Plus, I find with this hair routine I am only washing my hair 2x per week, so I am not going through product nearly as quick as I once did.  The Angel line also keeps my blonde from getting brassy.
  2. Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine Repairing Mist: I spray this on my hair when I get out of the shower, and not only does it smell amazing, but it makes my hair really easy to comb through, preventing any damage from brushing when wet.
  3. Moroccanoil: This stuff is the bomb.com.  I can’t get enough!  It is SO dry here in Utah and this stuff has literally transformed my hair to be the softest it has ever been.  I will never go without this product for as long as I live (or have hair!)! lol
  4. It’s A 10 Miracle Spray: I had read about this particular product on a lot of blogs, but HATED it when I first tried it.  I found it left a weird residue on my hair.  But I learned from a friend that this is not a product to douse all over your hair-which I was obviously doing. So when I started applying it to just the places that needed a miracle (i.e. the fuzzy ends of my horrible breakage), I immediately noticed a difference.  And now that I understand that this is more like a spot treatment, I can’t go without it.  It has really made a HUGE difference for my breakage.
  5. Wet Brush:  I didn’t knot until recently, but I love me a good wet brush!  With long hair, it gets so tangled, and I love knowing that I can brush my wet hair with something that will not damage it.
  6. NUME Classic Wand 25mm: If you read blogs, then you are probably familiar with Cara Loren.  And she seriously has the BEST hair ever.  She swears by these wands and so when they ran a promo right before Christmas, I pounced.  And I am SO glad that I did.  Not only does this wand create perfect curls, but they last.  AND they are running a promo right now where you can get 40% off your purchase!
  7. Babyliss Flat Iron:  I swore by my Chi for YEARS!  And it took a lot of effort for me to make a change.  But I noticed a HUGE difference the first day.  I would suggest if you are still using a Chi, it might be time to look into something else.  There are so many great brands out there who have advanced their technology beyond Chi.
  8. Redken Wax Blast: I am obsessed with this stuff!  It gives hair a little grit and texture, but also tames frizzies.  I probably wouldn’t be able to survive a day without this stuff.  TOTALLY kidding.  But at least it paints the picture of how much I love this product!
  9. Redken 18 Quick Dry Hairspray: Another product I can’t live without.  It dries fast, and doesn’t feel sticky or hard like other hairspray.  In fact, I even feel like it gives my hair a little extra volume, while still maintaining excellent hold.  Definitely worth checking out!

Alright you babes, that was a REALLY long post.  So if you stuck with me through the end, THANK YOU.  And more importantly, I hope I was able to answer all of your hair care questions!  Feel free to send me a message here or on Insta if you have any more questions or need more info!

Happy weekend!

xoxo,

Abby

Nude

Nude and neutral tones are totally my jam this season.  And this blazer?  It is so cute with the peplum back.  I seriously can’t say enough good things about it. Because if there is one thing I really love, it’s a great fitting, unique jacket with a price tag that doesn’t break the bank (it also comes in black and is only $51!).DSC_3672 DSC_3673 DSC_3709 DSC_3675 DSC_3682 DSC_3710 DSC_3698 DSC_3754 DSC_3747 DSC_3733 DSC_3762Blazer: Lookbook Store c/o (also comes in black!) | Sequin Top: JCrew (on sale!) | Skinnies: AG Farrah | Sunnies: Karen Walker c/o Ditto (try them for one month free with code: ALLDOLLEDUPBLOG at checkout!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Pumps: Jeffrey Campbell (sold out), almost identical, also love these

The “It” Jacket

I don’t know about you guys, but every once in a while I stumble upon a piece that I want to own in every color possible.  And this jacket is one of those pieces. I have owned it in the army green color for the past 2 years and I have worn it so much (and received more compliments on it than I can count!), that it has become a tried and true favorite in my wardrobe.  So when I found it came it came in a washed black color, I knew it would be a good investment.  Plus, it’s under $55.  So if you are looking for the perfect jacket (with a little edge) that won’t break the bank, trust me.  This is the one.

Current Beauty Faves

Happy hump day, lovelies!  I wanted to change things up a bit today and do something that I haven’t done in a while-share my current beauty faves!  Typically I’m pretty loyal to my tried-and-true products, but over the last couple of months, I’ve stumbled on a few new things that I’ve added to my routine.  So I wanted to take a minute and share both the old and the new with all of you.  Details, and why  I love these products can be found below!

Favorite ProductsClockwise from top:

  1.  Moroccan Oil: I am obsessed with this stuff.  I color my hair and have extensions and it does wonders for both.  Since I started using this regularly about a year and a half ago, I have seen a huge change in my hair.  Plus, if you live in a dry climate like I do, it will help with static and dryness during the harsh winter months!
  2. Karen Walker Sunglasses c/o Ditto: I am obsessed with sunglasses, so I have absolutely fallen in love with a company called Ditto.  They let you rent any designer sunglasses of your choice for just $24/month.  There is no contract and you can change them out as often as you want (with free shipping!).  Plus, if you use code: ALLDOLLEDUPBLOG at checkout, you can try one month for free!
  3. Urban Decay Naked Smokey Eye Palette: I’ve been super loyal to the original Naked palette for years, but I finally bit the bullet and picked this smokey one up.  And I am SO glad that I did!  It has great colors in it that I don’t already have, and it’s helped me to be more bold when experimenting with date night looks.  But it’s not just for dressing up either!  There are amazing neutrals for daytime as well.  It really is just a great all around palette and definitely worth every penny!
  4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Foundation: this is a new product for me.  I have been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear Light pretty religiously for over a year. I love the matte finish, that it stays in place all day, and I never get oily.  BUT, this winter has been so dry, it started to make my skin look dry and cakey.  On the recommendation of another blogger (Mckenna Bleu-check out her blog here), I tried this one.  And you know what?  I LOVE it! It stays in place all day, I never get oily, and it doesn’t leave my skin looking dry like the Estee Lauder.  And even better? It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my face.  This is probably my favorite out of all of the new products I’ve tried!  It’s also free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates! I use this powder to set it.
  5. Benefit High Beam Highlighter: I was having dinner with a good friend a few months ago and I couldn’t stop staring at her skin.  It looked so radiant!  And when I asked her what her secret was, Benefit High Beam was it.  So obviously, I immediately purchased some for myself.  And the verdict? I am obsessed with it!  It’s super easy to apply, gives the most beautifuly radiant finish, and looks great blended using this.
  6. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara:  I am a tried and true fan of Bare Minerals Lash Domination. But I’ve found that mixing Lash Domination with this mascara gives me both incredible length and volume.  Plus, if I finish it off with a little Younique 3D Mascara for special occasions, it looks like I’m wearing false eyelashes!  So good!
  7. Rodan + Fields Sunless Tanner: this stuff is the bomb.com.  Not only is it super easy to apply (you can even put it on your face!), but it gives you a gorgeous, gradual tan that you can build as much as you want to.  When I went to the Bahamas with friends a couple of weeks ago, the weather was too cold to get any sun.  But I used this stuff for a little color and everyone talked about what a nice, natural tan I had when I came back! ha!  Plus, it doesn’t get streaky or blotchy around the wrists, ankles, or knees when you apply it or when it wears off.  This is hands down the best sunless tanner I’ve ever tried.
  8. Butter London Lippy Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon: I am a gloss girl and most lipsticks can drive me nuts.  But not these!  The color is super vibrant, they wear really well, and are comfortable on the lips.  Plus, the lid has a built in sharpener making it the perfect all in one! Ladybird (a fiery red/orange), Primrose Hill Picnic (the perfect bright pink), and Trout Pout (a great bright coral) are my go-to colors.

Let me know if you guys have any questions!  Would love to hear if you use any of these products, or what your favorites are!  I am always on the lookout to try new things!

xoxo,

Abby

Leopard and Plaid

There is something about the Fall season that makes me want to print mix.  And one of my all-time favorite combos to put together is leopard and plaid.  So if you haven’t tried mixing these two prints yet, then I challenge you to test it out this Fall.  In fact, I can tell you that this is a combo you are probably going to see me wear a lot of on the blog this season.  So consider yourself warned!

Fiesta!

I’ve been a little slow to hop on the off-shoulder-trend.  It’s not that I don’t love it, because I do.  My hesitation has been that I have broad shoulders and assumed it was a silhouette that would accentuate this and make me look wider on the top than I am.  But once I started trying a few off-the-shoulder pieces on, I realized how wrong I was!  And this dress is no exception.  Not only is it fun and flirty, but it has beautiful laser cut trim, and makes me like I am going to a fun party or a fiesta! And even better than that? It’s under $20!!!  So I want to know, how are you guys feeling about the off-the-shoulder trend?
