Current Beauty Faves

Happy hump day, lovelies!  I wanted to change things up a bit today and do something that I haven’t done in a while-share my current beauty faves!  Typically I’m pretty loyal to my tried-and-true products, but over the last couple of months, I’ve stumbled on a few new things that I’ve added to my routine.  So I wanted to take a minute and share both the old and the new with all of you.  Details, and why  I love these products can be found below!

Favorite ProductsClockwise from top:

  1.  Moroccan Oil: I am obsessed with this stuff.  I color my hair and have extensions and it does wonders for both.  Since I started using this regularly about a year and a half ago, I have seen a huge change in my hair.  Plus, if you live in a dry climate like I do, it will help with static and dryness during the harsh winter months!
  2. Karen Walker Sunglasses c/o Ditto: I am obsessed with sunglasses, so I have absolutely fallen in love with a company called Ditto.  They let you rent any designer sunglasses of your choice for just $24/month.  There is no contract and you can change them out as often as you want (with free shipping!).  Plus, if you use code: ALLDOLLEDUPBLOG at checkout, you can try one month for free!
  3. Urban Decay Naked Smokey Eye Palette: I’ve been super loyal to the original Naked palette for years, but I finally bit the bullet and picked this smokey one up.  And I am SO glad that I did!  It has great colors in it that I don’t already have, and it’s helped me to be more bold when experimenting with date night looks.  But it’s not just for dressing up either!  There are amazing neutrals for daytime as well.  It really is just a great all around palette and definitely worth every penny!
  4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Foundation: this is a new product for me.  I have been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear Light pretty religiously for over a year. I love the matte finish, that it stays in place all day, and I never get oily.  BUT, this winter has been so dry, it started to make my skin look dry and cakey.  On the recommendation of another blogger (Mckenna Bleu-check out her blog here), I tried this one.  And you know what?  I LOVE it! It stays in place all day, I never get oily, and it doesn’t leave my skin looking dry like the Estee Lauder.  And even better? It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my face.  This is probably my favorite out of all of the new products I’ve tried!  It’s also free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates! I use this powder to set it.
  5. Benefit High Beam Highlighter: I was having dinner with a good friend a few months ago and I couldn’t stop staring at her skin.  It looked so radiant!  And when I asked her what her secret was, Benefit High Beam was it.  So obviously, I immediately purchased some for myself.  And the verdict? I am obsessed with it!  It’s super easy to apply, gives the most beautifuly radiant finish, and looks great blended using this.
  6. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara:  I am a tried and true fan of Bare Minerals Lash Domination. But I’ve found that mixing Lash Domination with this mascara gives me both incredible length and volume.  Plus, if I finish it off with a little Younique 3D Mascara for special occasions, it looks like I’m wearing false eyelashes!  So good!
  7. Rodan + Fields Sunless Tanner: this stuff is the bomb.com.  Not only is it super easy to apply (you can even put it on your face!), but it gives you a gorgeous, gradual tan that you can build as much as you want to.  When I went to the Bahamas with friends a couple of weeks ago, the weather was too cold to get any sun.  But I used this stuff for a little color and everyone talked about what a nice, natural tan I had when I came back! ha!  Plus, it doesn’t get streaky or blotchy around the wrists, ankles, or knees when you apply it or when it wears off.  This is hands down the best sunless tanner I’ve ever tried.
  8. Butter London Lippy Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon: I am a gloss girl and most lipsticks can drive me nuts.  But not these!  The color is super vibrant, they wear really well, and are comfortable on the lips.  Plus, the lid has a built in sharpener making it the perfect all in one! Ladybird (a fiery red/orange), Primrose Hill Picnic (the perfect bright pink), and Trout Pout (a great bright coral) are my go-to colors.

Let me know if you guys have any questions!  Would love to hear if you use any of these products, or what your favorites are!  I am always on the lookout to try new things!

xoxo,

Abby

Spring Beauty Essentials

One thing I love about a change in season, is the chance to freshen up my beauty routine.  And because I am so enamored with the below products, today I thought I would share my current beauty must-have with all of you…
Spring Beauty Essentials
1.  Bare Minerals BB Primer: this stuff is AWESOME! I am a huge fan of primers and have tried all of the cult favorites, but this is by far the best.  It goes on silky smooth, has a slight tint to even out blemishes and redness, I no longer get oily in my t-zone after a few hours (like I do with every other primer I’ve tried), and, of course, it has all the benefits of a BB Cream!
2.  Bare Escentuals Pressed Powder:   I have been a fan of the loose powder for years, and was super excited when they launched the pressed.  However, I was initially turned off by the fact that the colors weren’t interchangeable with the loose, and by the fact that it didn’t get rave reviews right away.  However, my favorite Bare rep got me to try it a couple of months ago and I’m hooked!  Initially, you do have to be aware of the difference in application (it goes on a little heavier than the loose if you aren’t careful), but once you get it down, it’s super easy and natural looking.  PLUS no more mess all over the bathroom counter!
3.  NARS Orgasm Blush: I use this year round.  Hands down my favorite blush and works with just about any skin tone.  If you haven’t tried this, you must-it’s a staple in my beauty bag.
4. Bare Minerals Moxie Lipstick in Fly High:  I always gravitate towards YSL and MAC lipsticks, but when I saw a photo of my favorite blogger, Julia, from Gal Meets Glam, wearing this color during NY Fashion week, I HAD to try it.  And am SO glad I did!  The color is the perfect shade of pink for Spring, and it is super comfy and long lasting-in fact, it reminds me a bit of a gloss.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff!
5.  Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Apricot:  Another tried and true favorite that I have been wearing for years. In the summer I wear the bronze, but in the spring, the Apricot is the perfect amount of warmth and glow and looks great layered with Orgasm.
6.  Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner:  BEST.  EYELINER.  EVER.  I recommend this to everyone, and everyone who tires it is hooked.  Super easy to apply, doesn’t smudge (I can wear it without any touch-ups all day long), and yet, it super easy to remove.  I guess you could say it’s easy on the eyes in more than one way!
7. MAC Prep+Prime Translucent Finishing Power:  After constantly reading about this product, I recently decided to give it a test drive.  And the verdict?  It’s fantastic!  It is the perfect setting powder, gives my makeup a perfectly finished look, and reduces the look of fine lines and pores.  I think it’s safe to say I’m hooked!
8.  Urban Decay Make Up Setting Spray:  Another tried and true favorite in my beauty routine.  Now that I’ve used it, I can’t go without it.  And let me just tell you, all make up sprays are definitely not created equal.  So if you are in the market, this is the one.  Trust me, try it and you’ll be hooked.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  And please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about the above products!

Pucker Up!

I get a lot of questions about the different red lipsticks that I wear on my blog.  And so today, I wanted to share my four favorites with you.  Now truth be told, I am a total lip gloss junkie and don’t usually tend to gravitate towards lipstick-mostly because I have always found them to be messy and uncomfortable.  BUT since discovering  these 4 products, I find myself wearing lipstick more and more often.  And more importantly, actually liking it!
NARS Heat Wave: really fun orange/red; my go to in the summer; lightweight, but not super long lasting
STILA Fiery: burgundy red color; long lasting vinyl gloss that wears like a lipstick; pretty comfortable, and amazingly long lasting (even through drinking and eating); sponge applicator makes it easy to apply
URBAN DECAY Revolution in 69: true bright red, my personal favorite lipstick (in all colors!); super comfy, long lasting, easy to apply
MAC Ruby Woo: super fun color; cool red tone with a matte finish; a little drying-definitely pair with a gloss
Happy, happy Friday to all of you!  Thank you SO much for stopping by!

FPF: Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray

I had never tried a makeup setting spray until about two years ago when I was checking out at Sephora and the gal helping me convinced me to trade in some of my points for a sample of Urban Decay’s All Nighter. I was skeptical at first and assumed that spraying a liquid mist on my face would make me oily in my t-zone or be drying, creating a tight and uncomfortable feeling. But she assured me I would love it, and boy was she right.

Urban Decay’s All Nighter is like magic in a bottle. After applying your make up, you simply hold the bottle about a foot from your face and spray lightly 3-5 times. It actually feels quite refreshing but dries quickly and without a trace, and locks your makeup perfectly in place ALL DAY LONG! I have combination skin and normally get a little oily around my t-zone so always found myself having to retouch my make up during the day. But now that I have found this spray, that is no longer the case. I can go to work all day, and then out to dinner and drinks and not once have to touch up my make up. This stuff is seriously amazingly, and I might even go as far as to say life changing-well, as far as makeup goes!!! 😉

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray:  All Nighter (regular formula), Dew Me (for dry skin), and DeSlick (not pictured, for oily skin)

You can find these sprays at urbandecay.com, your local Sephora or Macy’s or anywhere that carries Urban Decay makeup.

A few weeks ago, I wanted to put my All Nighter to the test, so I picked up a sample bottle of the Make Up Forever Makeup Setting Spray when I was in Sephora.  And I have to say that I was really disappointed.  It felt wet on my skin, didn’t dry quickly, I was oily by lunch time, and I had a really bad break out after using it for a few days.  I am sure it works great on some skin types, but it just wasn’t for me.  So if you are looking to try a make up setting spray (aka a miracle in a bottle), then definitely give Urban Decay’s All Nighter a try!

Happy weekend, dolls!
