Fall Into Color

I’ve got a bad habit. When I buy something extra special, or that I really love, I often find I let it stay tucked neatly into my closet saving it for the “perfect” occasion. And sometimes, that perfect occasion is awfully slow in coming. So I am trying to be better about wearing those “special” pieces right off the bat. But I’ve got to admit-I’m a work in progress.

But lucky for me, when styled appropriately, color is perfectly acceptable during the fall and winter seasons. And that means there will hopefully still be lots of special occasions for me to wear my favorite (previously unworn) Kate Spade skirt. And while the temps are still pretty warm, I am loving it back to denim, for a look that’s both seasonally and weather appropriate!

Perfect Harmony

I am loving the sneak peeks I am getting through social media from all of the happenings in NYC for Fashion Week. And I have to say that one trend I am happy to see will be continuing into the Spring 2014 season is black and white. In my opinion, no other color combo creates such perfect harmony while being so chic and effortless at the same time. Plus it creates the ideal canvas to add a pop of color, or a pretty metallic.

But fortunately, we’ve got a lot of fun things on the horizon to look forward to, including a mini Vegas vacay and a trip back to Nashville for my 10 year Vanderbilt reunion. I will always have a love affair with my home state of Montana. There is just something so special about it that I can’t explain. It was the most incredible place to grow up and someday I hope I can raise my children there, or that it will, at the very least, be an important part of their lives too. And because I was lucky enough to marry a man who loves Montana as much as I do, every summer, J and I make a trip back to my hometown to soak in the beauty, the serenity, and all of the amazing-ness that is Montana. And this year’s vacation, as usual, was the high light of my summer. So when I saw these cute Montana Shirt Co. Tee’s everywhere on Facebook and realized their shop was located in my hometown, I knew I needed to get one so I could express my love for my home state with pride anytime, anywhere…

Stormy Weather

While I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, one of the perks of all of the travel is that every couple of months, I get to take a trip back to my home state of Montana. And depending on the time of year and our schedules, sometimes it works out (like it did this past weekend) that J can come and join me and we can sneak in a long weekend in one of our favorite places-which also happens to be where we first met. And while the weather was cold and stormy (which required a little more layering than I’m used to this time of year), we still managed to have a great time with friends, visited all of our favorites places (and discovered some new), and were even able to sneak in a few miles on the bikes in between showers…
