Fashion Fusion SLC (and a contest!)

It’s one of my very favorite weeks of the Fall-New York Fashion Week. It’s the first time we get to see a glimpse of what lies in wait for us in Spring 2014 and all of the colors and trends that will rule the season.  EXCITING!!!

And for those of us who live in Salt Lake but don’t have the luxury to travel to NYC to take in all of the shows, good news! There is still a chance to celebrate in style at Fashion Place mall tomorrow night, September 6th, at 7pm for the 1st Annual Fashion Fusion Event!! This event will be centered on fashion shows from Fashion Place and the Salt Lake Community College Fashion Institute, and will feature fashion photography and art from Art Meets Fashion. And if you attended the Spring event, then you know just how fabulous this night of fashion truly is! So gather up your girlfriends and head on down Fashion Place for a super fun night on the town (and the perfect excuse to play dress up)!!

Foiled

I love silver. And metallics. And sparkles. In fact, when I was in high school, my girlfriends and I loved the Spice Girls so much that we each had our own Spice Girl name. And I was Sparkle Spice. Go figure. So needless to say, I am loving the sequin and sparkle t-shirt trend this season. Especially when paired back to destroyed jeans and other accessories of a like metallic, for a sparkly, yet monochromatic look…

So I’ve got a question.  What do you all think of my silver Michael Kors bag?  I got it for a steal at Macy’s, but am on the fence as to whether or not it’s a keeper.  Would love to know if you guys think I should love it or leave it.

Layers

At the end of summer, I am never ready to put away any of my pretty dresses. So I always love to look for ways to prolong their use into the early fall season. And I have to say, that an army surplus vest, back to cognac accessories, seems to do just the trick…

I hope your week is off to a great start.  I know I have another crazy busy one on the books.  But on the bright side, at least there is a nice, long three-day weekend ahead of us to look forward to!

Transition

Transition

I hate to admit it, but fall is in the air.  And as I feel the crispness start to infiltrate early mornings and late evenings, I can’t help but find myself drawn to more transitional pieces.  Particularly anything leather, leopard, or with studs.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Rawr!

Whether it be home decor, clothing, or accessories, I love anything animal print. In fact, my favorite leopard pants are always a favorite on rotation in my closet.  And with cooler temps just around the corner, anything leopard feels pretty darn fitting.  Don’t you think?20130820-224017.jpg

I am traveling on a big regional visit this week and have lots of presenting to do over the next couple of days, so feel free to send good thoughts my way.  I am going to need them!

Happy hump day!

Comfy, Cozy, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Each and every year, I mourn the passing of summer. But truth be told, if winter wasn’t looming on the other side, fall would no doubt be my very favorite season. I love boots, and layering, and cozy sweaters, holiday cheer, crockpot meals, that unbeatable brisk feeling in the air, gorgeous fall foliage, and of course all-things-pumpkin. If I could alternate between summer and fall (with a little skiing in between), I would do it in a heartbeat. So if anyone knows of a region with that kind of climate, kindly let me know. 😉

When J and I were in Montana last weekend, the weather was much colder than it has been in the SLC (45 degrees vs. 75 degrees!). So truly, it was my first opportunity of the season to make my boots, favorite go-to sweater, army surplus jacket, and pumpkin spice lattes a necessary part of my weekend-which made my little heart oh-so-happy!

If you are a follower of this blog, then I must apologize if you are tired of seeing my Aldo Farmar boots in so many posts.  But what can I say? Try as I might, it’s tough to find a tried-and-true pair of boots that work for just about any occasion.  But I am obviously a sucker for a good cognac boot and am happy to report I have found this season’s Farmar and am looking forward to sharing them with you in an upcoming post.  But be forewarned, you’ll probably grow tired of seeing the new pair too! A creature of habbit and comfort am I!!
