Road Trip

Justin’s grandmother passed away a few days before the 4th of July. And since the service was in North Dakota and flights were ridiculously expensive, we decided to pack up our things (having just barely unpacked from our last adventure), and hit the road to tackle the 15 hour drive.

Outside of the service, we didn’t have a plan-just the bikes, our pups, and the open road. And so, we decided to create a little adventure out of the circumstances and enjoyed a few days in Justin’s home town with family before deciding to head to Red Lodge, Montana to do some epic biking and celebrate the 4th. We even took a little (ok, an unintentionally really LONG) detour through Yellowstone on our way back to the SLC. And while I couldn’t be happier to be home (or any more exhausted), I am so grateful that we were able to make the trip and celebrate the life of Justin’s Grandma Wood!

And so, I thought it only fitting to share some Instagram snaps with all of your to commemorate our completely unexpected and unplanned 8 day adventure…

Don’t you love when you have been eyeing something online and it turns out to be even better in person? Such was the case with this cute peplum top. I had seen it online, but as much as I love it, have a hard time with the whole peplum trend (I am very short-waisted, so they don’t normally do much for me). But when my family was here for Memorial Day weekend, my mom treated my sister-in-law and me to a traditional shopping trip, and I was able to spot it on the rack at Forever21. And I have to say, it’s one of those Forever21 pieces that is quite impressive. While most of the stuff in that store is fairly cheap both in quality and in price, and what I would consider “disposable” fashion (not that it can’t still have a very desirable place in your wardrobe), they do have items (if you have the patience) that are actually quite nice and very well made. And this top is one of them. The fit and fabric are both lovely and in person it looks very expensive. Don’t you just love finding bargains like? Me and my bank account sure do. 😉

Back At It

Well hello there, my lovely readers! After a brief little blogging hiatus, I am back! And can I just say that last week was an absolutely crazy (and wonderful) one for me? Between a work trip to San Francisco for our Vendor Summit, a birthday celebration, and a nice long weekend spent in my favorite city by the bay (packed full of my favorite activities), I think my head is still spinning!! So since I’m slowly, but surely, getting back into the swing of things, I thought today was the perfect opportunity to keep it short and sweet and share with you one of my favorite color combinations ever-pink and navy.

Can you believe that I stumbled upon these darling wedges at JCP of all places? I had actually seen them in a magazine and wanted to check them out in person since I was a little unsure about buying a pair of shoes from Penny’s. And while I have to say that I wasn’t expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised by just how cute they are in person, the quality, and the amazing price (under $40!!). They are definitely going to be a staple in my wardrobe this summer.

But whether it’s a pair of shoes, a new handbag, or a some sort of fabulous accessory, there are always bound to be a couple of key things that will top my wish list and be on constant rotation in my closet. And I have to say that this season, it’s safe to say that my pretty rosette necklace is going to be one of those pieces…

I initially fell in love with this necklace when I spotted it in JCrew at the beginning of the season. But as enamored as I was, I just couldn’t bring myself to pay the hefty retail price tag for it. And boy am I glad that I waited. Not only did I get an amazing deal on the T+J version (which is excellent quality, by the way), but I was also able to pick it up in another color. I am going to have so much fun styling this necklace over the next couple of months-I can’t wait!

Last weekend I got to spend an evening in Park City with some of my favorite girlfriends. And what better outfit to wear for a night with the girls than my favorite boyfriend jeans paired back to my current fashion crush-a pretty water colored floral blazer. I have been on the hunt for a pair of metallic pumps for the last couple of months. But since my guess is this will be a fleeting trend (and I’m trying to save up for sandals!), I wanted to find an affordable option. So I was beyond thrilled when I stumbled upon this pair from Target on sale for only $14.95. And not only were they a fantastic bargain, but they are really comfortable too. Talk about an amzing deal!!
