Rehearsal Dinner

If you follow me on Insta (and if you don’t, you should!), then you know I was in Austin, Texas last week celebrating the wedding of one of my best college friends.  It was an absolutely fabulous weekend and I could not be happier for my sweet friend and her new hubby.  And despite my best intentions to take blog photos of what I wore to all of the festivities, I was having too much fun to pause and break out the DSLR.

So even though I’m back home in the SLC, I wanted to recreate for y’all what I wore to the rehearsal dinner.  I haven’t been to many weddings in the winter, and it made me realize that they can be a little tricky to dress for.  Even though Austin is fairly mild, I wasn’t sure it would be warm enough for a sleeveless dress-and I was right.  So instead, I opted to pair one of my favorite skirts from this past summer, with one of my favorite tops from the holiday season.  And I have to say that I really love the way it turned out.  Not only is navy one of my favorite colors for a formal event, but mixing it back to gold and leopard is one of my very favorite combinations of all time-a total no-brainer for such a special event!

The Holiday Season

I love this time of year.  And one of my favorite parts?  The holiday parties!  And fortunately, this season, J and I have plenty to attend-the first of which is this weekend!  So when I saw this skirt in the Nordstrom Savvy department a couple of weeks ago, I knew it was the perfect holiday party piece to add to my closet!  And I’m especially loving it back to a plaid shirt with a pop of red-helps to make it slightly less dressy and perfect for any type of holiday occaision!

Plaid To The Bone

Every fall (it never fails), I become plaid obsessed.  Something about cool weather, football, chili, tailgating, scarves, and boots makes want to break out all of my favorite plaid shirts.  So my apologies in advance if you are seeing an abundance of plaid on the blog this season, but I just can’t help myself.  And if you don’t have any plaid in your closet, then be sure to pick up a few pieces this season.  Some of my favorite place to shop for plaid? JCrew, JCrew Factory, American Eagle, Madewell, and Ralph Lauren Denim and Supply.

Sparkle

I love a great t-shirt and I also love a little sparkle.  To me, there is nothing better than a versatile top that can not only be dressed up or down-but one that is also super comfy!  You can have both comfort and fashion people!  Believe me!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!  We can already feel the fall chill creeping into the air here in Utah, and I have to say that I can hardly believe another summer has come and gone.  Crazy I tell you!  But here’s to savoring the last of the sunshine and warmth before bunkering in for the long winter months!

Put A Bow On It

When I think about my own personal style, girly and sweet are definitely not the first words that come to mind.  And while I think hearts and bows and frills are all adorable, I don’t normally gravitate towards those types of ensembles.  BUT, every once in a while, I do think it’s fun to put on a girly dress and pay homage to a more feminine style.  And as an added bonus, while most of us are still experiencing in between temps, I absolutely love the option of wearing a button down shirt underneath a dress to change things up from my typical go-to cardi or jean jacket…

Print Mixing

I love me some good old print mixing.  And because I am a firm believer of using leopard as a neutral, I tend to pair it back to a lot of different prints.  My favorite of the moment?  Plaid of course!

Macy’s Fashion Event

This post goes out to all my Utah gals!  If you are in town this weekend and looking for something fabulous to do this afternoon, then head out to Macy’s at City Creek for your chance to have a meet and greet with Rachel from The Pink Peonies, and Emily from The Ivory Lane!  They will be on the 2nd floor at 2pm showing all of their favorite Fall picks from Macy’s Impulse line!  And let me tell you, there are some fantastic pieces-so you don’t want to miss this.

Hope you are all having a wonderful start to your weekend!!!

Camo Couture

Since I’m heading down south tomorrow, it seems I’ve got camo on my mind.  And believe it or not, camo just happens to be one of my very favorite prints.  Maybe it’s the Montana girl in me, or maybe it’s the years I spent below the Mason Dixon line-either way, I couldn’t be happier that it’s an important print for the season.  Kinda feels right up my alley-especially dolled up a little!

P.S. Can you believe it’s October already?  Holy cow!  Where on earth did the month of September go?

FPF: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

I have been seeing Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick all over beauty magazines and blogs this Fall. And while I am not normally a lipstick gal and almost always prefer gloss, between the hype, the name, and the enthusiasm of the gal who helped me when I asked about it at my local Sephora, I decided I would give it a go. And boy am I glad I did. This stuff is off-the-charts amazing. It’s light, but the pigments are rich, it goes on evenly, it’s incredibly long-lasting, and it’s COMFORTABLE! I rarely wear lipstick because I hate the way it feels and that it always wears off leaving me with just a lip liner look.  But this stuff. Unreal. And so, I thought I would bid adieu for the week by leaving you with my normal “go-to” look, jazzed up with a pop of leopard and a bright red lip. Perfect for fall.

So if you are looking for a simple way to jazz up your go-to tee and jeans uniform, then I highly suggest trying out this fantastic new lipstick (and adding some sort of leopard accessory).  There are lots of colors in the line so there is sure to be something for everyone.  I am (obviously) especially loving F-Bomb.  It’s a fantastic red with a hint of oxblood, making it feel updated for the fall. And not only that, but it has a blue undertone, so it’s a red that really makes those pearly whites pop!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

About Face

I love, love, love the military trend. Most likely because I have an obsession with cute jackets. And what’s cuter than a bomber? Or a surplus jacket? They are the perfect topper to just about any outfit. And while I normally tend to gravitate towards shades of army green, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this navy number when I spotted it at Macy’s a couple of months back. And even though the temps are still pretty warm, I can already tell that this is going to be a fantastic staple in my fall wardrobe…
