Tunic

Confession: I ordered this “top” thinking that it was a dress. But when it arrived, it was much too short, and the slit was way too high (yikes!) for me to wear it as a dress, let alone in public. Ha! But I loved the print and fabric so much (it is a nice, sturdy scuba material), that I stewed over how to wear it for a while, not wanting to return it. And I finally decided that it could indeed be worn be worn as a top. In the end, while I still wish it was a dress, I am loving how it looks with leggings, and can’t wait to wear it again when the temperature drops with a cute blazer or leather jacket.

Do you guys watch Project Runway? It is one of my FAVORITE shows. And in this past episode, Edmond (one of my faves!) made a gorgeous pant suit complete with a cloud inspired vest. It was one of my favorite looks of the week. And the gorgeous, strappy top that he made, reminded me of one I have in my closet that I’ve never posted to the blog. The Perfect White T-Shirt

I love to dress up and try different looks for the blog. But at the end of the day, I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of a girl. And let me tell you, I have been hunting for the perfect white long-sleeve t-shirt for ages. But it seems all of the ones that I try are too see-through, the fit isn’t quite right, or they shrink like crazy and don’t last. So I am happy to finally report that I have officially found the perfect white t-shirt. The fit is fantastic, it isn’t see-through at all, and washes up perfectly. Plus the fabrication is so lovely, I know it was worth the price and will last me for years to come. So if you too have been on the hunt for the perfect white tee, then ladies, this post is for you!

Casual Friday

I love a good striped tee. Particularly when they are super soft and a little longer in the back than in the front. And my white jeans? Still going strong this fall season. In fact, I love this look for Fall so much, that this type of uniform will definitely be on repeat. I will just have to change out my heels for booties when the temps start to drop!

On a serious note, I also wanted to just take a minute and acknowledge today, September 11th. I still remember so vividly where I was and exactly what I was doing on this day 14 years ago. I remember watching towers fall while my roommates and I cried and clung to each other in our tiny little dorm room. I remember frantically trying to call friends who lived in in NYC to make sure they were ok. I remember how drastically things changed in those moments and how in the blink of an eye, things would never be the same. But most importantly, I remember those who lost their lives, the heroes, the first responders, the children who have grown up without with fathers and mothers. Every soul lost that day was so precious and taken from us much too soon. So even though life marches on, today will be a day full of reflection for me, as I know it will be for many others across this great country and around the world.

Hold tight to your loved ones, and never, ever forget.

It doesn’t matter the season, or what’s on trend for the year. Black and white is always one of my very favorite combinations. Especially when paired with a bright lip for a little pop of color. Not only is it a timeless combo, but a look everyone can wear.

I love this time of year when I can transition my summer dresses into the Fall season. And even more than that, I love that I don’t have to put my white items away after Labor Day! Because as perfect as this white lace dress was to wear during the summer months, I actually prefer it dressed up with Fall ready accessories. All About Those Shoes

I have been wanting these shoes for a long time, but was a little unsure about the price tag. So after adding them to my Nordie’s shopping bag about 50 times over the last couple of months, I finally decided to go for it. And you know what? I am SO glad that I did. Not only are they super comfortable but they go with WAY more than I thought they would.

In fact, I wore them while I was in Seattle this week for meetings and literally had co-workers and people on the street stopping me to ask where they were from! Plus, since they are a perfect mix between a bootie and shoe, they are a great transitional piece for Fall!
