I can’t stop with the leopard and plaid. It is my favorite way to pattern mix. Especially in the Fall season. And this top? I love that it’s such a fun twist on a classic plaid shirt. It’s definitely a go-to in my wardrobe right now.

Happy first day of Fall, friends! Can you believe that summer has officially come and gone? I always hate it when summer goes, but I am definitely ready for all things pumpkin and cozy. The only problem is, it’s been blazing hot here in the SLC, which has made it nearly impossible to layer up. But I’ve still been able to get a start wearing my favorite Fall trends by adding things like lace-up pumps, and cocoon vests to my looks. I LOVE rompers! So I am really glad that they are back in a big way this season. And even though the temps have been a little chilly in the SLC, I have still been able to wear some of my favorites by pairing them with denim jackets and cozy cardigans (like in today’s post). Yesterday I talked a little bit about the importance of having balance between classic and fashion pieces in your wardrobe. But another important closet category that I didn’t mention, is staple pieces. If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, then you know staples are something I talk about a fair amount, i.e. denim jackets, surplus vests, nude pumps, black handbags, dark wash skinny jeans, etc. And so today, I wanted to highlight one of my personal favorite closet staples, and that is a casual long-sleeved black dress.

Today’s outfit is a little out of my wheelhouse. But since I love a good chambray shirt (and have a few in my closet that are all fairly similar), I love that this one is totally different from anything else I own. The longer length in the front makes it feel a bit dressier than your typical chambray, but since it’s denim, it’s totally cool and casual for any occasion. Another day, another vest. Or so seems to go my wardrobe rotation these days. But really, I just can’t help it. Vests are the perfect piece to throw on this time of year for a little extra layering.
