Queen of Hearts

I love a great heart print sweater or sweatshirt-kind of takes me back to being a kid in the ’80’s! But a great print is always a super easy way to dress up an otherwise basic outfit.  And who doesn’t love a great pop of cobalt blue?  Blue is one of the colors this season and I am absolutely loving it!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  It was freezing here in the SLC, so we ate lots of comfort food and warmed up in the hot tub!  But the cooler weather definitely got me in the holiday spirit and has left me feeling excited!  I love all of the anticipation of this time of year!

Happy Monday!

Mad Hatter

I can’t stop wearing hats this Fall.  They might just be my favorite trend.  And swingy, comfy sweaters? Another closet staple.  So if you are looking to update your wardrobe this season, I highly recommend considering a  new floppy hat and a comfy, cozy sweater (or two) in a rich jewel tone.

Polka Dots

There was a period in time when I went a little overkill on the whole polka dot thing, so I made a conscious effort to cut back.  And in doing so, it’s been quite a while since I posted a polka dot look on the blog.  So after a nice little hiatus, I finally feel like now is the appropriate time to bring polka dots back to All Dolled Up!  Not to mention that it has been unseasonably warm here in Utah this week, and this sweater is the perfect transitional piece that feels fitting for a winter that is beginning to feel an awful lot like spring…

Gone Fishin’

The thought didn’t cross my mind when I purchased this vest a couple of months ago, but when I was editing these photos, it dawned on me that it looks an awfully lot like a fishing vest.  Which in all honesty, makes me like it even that much more-I am a Montana girl after all!  And while I am obviously loving the look of vests this season, one thing I am loving even more is the combination of a bold pink back to a neutral army green and leopard.  It’s the perfect combination of casual yet refined…

Shootie

I love shoes-and I am talking love.  And while many might guess that my love affair with footwear started when I began my career as a Footwear Buyer and Developer for Sundance Catalog, I would actually be more inclined to say that it began when I was a little tiny girl and insisted that if I had to wear saddle shoes, then they had to be the pink and white ones and not the black and white version that my mom wanted to buy me for school.  And much like my saddle shoes of old, when I saw these Report Signature shoes in a magazine a few weeks ago, I knew I had to track them down.  And boy am I glad that I did.  Because not only are they chic and amazingly comfortable (not to mention versatile), but they are the perfect hybrid between a pump and bootie-which really couldn’t be any more perfect for the season…

I am in Montana this week for work braving the cold.  And while I always love coming back to my home state, sometimes I forget how soft I’ve become between living in Tennessee and Utah over the last few years.  Winter is definitely no joke up here in the big sky state!! Brrrrrrrr….

Hope you have a wonderful week and staying warm!  Happy hump day!

Mad for Plaid

I love plaid.  Which is lucky for me, because it’s a key trend this fall season.  And while I am so excited for all of the different ways I have up my sleeve to style this beloved print, right now, I am loving it paired back to leather and chiffon.  A slightly masculine spin on a pretty fall dress, if you will (click here to see how I styled this dress last year)…

Twirly Girl

I LOVE that circle skirts are back on trend. There is something so fun and completely girly about them. In fact, when I slip one on, it’s all I can do not to twirl around like I’m five years old again…

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.  The above is actually what I wore to church and for dinner on Easter Sunday.  I always love a good excuse to get dressed up, but I especially love Easter and the reason why we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ.   It is always one of my very favorite days of the year.  And of course I love Reese’s Peanut Butter eggs.  I mean really, why is it that they are so much better than regular Reese’s anyway?

Happy Monday!

Seasonless

If you would have asked me a couple of years ago if I would ever consider wearing bright pink pants in the middle of the winter, I probably would have told you no. I also probably would never have imagined that I would own jeans in every color of the rainbow either. But I suppose that is one of the many things that I love about fashion.  Even though trends tend to be cyclical, each season is always full of so many elements of surprise, constantly pushing us out of our comfort zones and willing us to try something new…

To say that I am totally and completely smitten with this JCrew sequin polka dot shirt would be an understatement.  In fact, I’m finding I have to limit how much I wear it (you can see it featured in another post here). Don’t you just love pieces that are not only incredibly versatile, but also make you feel extra special every time you wear them?

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Drop It Like It’s Hot

Drop. Waist. Dresses. I am absolutely LOVING this look. It is so fresh and such a welcome update to all of the trends we have been seeing as of late. They are fun, flirty, and a fall must-have if you love to wear dresses (like I do). And given my penchant for mixing sassy and sweet, I knew the combo of leather and chiffon made this dress a must have for my fall wardrobe…

The only challenge with drop waist dresses this time of year is finding something to wear over them. I tried several blazers and different jackets with this dress, but none looked like quite right. So I ended up settling on wearing it with a plain long-sleeved black tee underneath, in true jumper fashion. But I am looking forward to playing around with it and coming up with more ways to style this piece. Perhaps a starched white blouse underneath will be my next concoction. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

My very cute, and very funny little dog, Charlie, kept photo-bombing my blog photos this weekend.  What can I say?  She loves shoes.  In fact, when she was a puppy my favorite heels somehow always became her favorite chew toys (NOT good).  But since we share a love for fashion, I figured I’d let her make her first cameo in today’s post!  😉
