Winter Pastels

I love that it’s perfectly acceptable to wear pastels any time of the year now.  So when I saw this pale pink sweater at JCrew recently, I was immediately drawn to it.  Not only do I love the color, but it’s a nice relaxed fit which is little bit on the longer side, though not quite tunic length-which is a favorite silhouette of mine.  I know that this will be a piece that I can style a multitude of different ways this season.  And if you aren’t into pink (or pastels in the winter for that matter!), don’t worry, it comes in a ton of other colors too!DSC_1019 DSC_1021 DSC_1062 DSC_1076 DSC_1017 DSC_1058 DSC_1065 DSC_1084 DSC_1035 DSC_1064 DSC_1079

Winter Pastels

I am loving the pastel trend this winter.  To me, there is just something so soft and beautiful about wearing colors like lilac during the crisp, white, winter months.  And not only are pastels an unexpected (and fun!) choice right now, but they are a nice transition from the bold holiday colors of red and green (not that you can’t still wear those colors now too!!)…

Can you believe the holiday season has come and gone and it’s January again already?  To be honest, I’m kind of nursing the post holiday blues.  And the fact that it’s Monday certainly doesn’t help matters, does it?

But regardless, cheers to the new year and all of the new adventures it holds!  And don’t forget to CLICK HERE to enter for your chance to win a $50 gift card to Bohme Boutique!  Winner will be announced on Friday!

Inspiration Station

Often times when I put together an outfit, it’s because I am inspired by a pair of shoes, a handbag, an image I’ve seen, or in this case, a necklace. I am loving statement necklaces this spring, and this one is one of my favorites. I love the pretty flowers, chain length, and the unexpected and unique combination of mint and neon yellow. So much so in fact, that an entire outfit came to fruition because of it…

I just wanted to take a minute and send my love to Boston.  I feel so heartbroken by the events that transpired yesterday and can’t even begin to imagine the hurt and the devastation that the victims and their families are feeling right now.  And while I wish I had more to offer, I hope they know they have my support and prayers.

God bless you all today and in the days to come.

Mint To Be

Like everyone else this season, I think it’s pretty safe to say that I am obsessed with the color mint. It is such a beautiful, refreshing hue and goes with such a multitude of things. But right now I am especially loving it back to neutrals…

I think a neutral leather (or faux if your prefer) jacket is a must have item in any closet.  Especially this time of year when we start to gravitate towards brighter colors and pastels.  It’s a great basic and the perfect alternative for your go-to black jacket!

Strawberry Banana

We’ve already established that I LOVE color.  However, since I started writing this blog, I have noticed (among many other things) that I definitely tend to gravitate towards more vibrant and saturated hues.  I don’t own a lot of pastels and am  never particularly drawn to them-BUT there are certain occasions where I can’t think of anything that would be more appropriate.  And the two occasions that stand out in my mind above all others are wedding and baby showers-something about the softness of pastels just seems to lend itself perfectly to these types of events.

We had a surprise wedding luncheon for one of my co-workers this week and while it was a little casual for a dress, I still wanted an outfit appropriate  for the occasion and thought it would be fitting to break out my favorite new pink jeans and pair them back to a pale yellow top complete with nude heels.  A soft and sweet look perfect for such a casual celebration and a little reminiscent of strawberries and bananas. 😉

Truth be told, I don’t wear a lot of accessories during the work week.  I steer clear of a lot of arm candy since it clanks around on my desk and computer, and really limit the amount of jewelry I wear in general because a) it takes a lot of effort for me that early in the morning and b) I feel like less is more when it comes to a professional environment.  Plus, I like the idea of feeling like my weekend and date night outfits are extra special compared to what I am wearing to work day in and day out.

P.S.  I used my favorite new Instagram filter for this post-1977.  I just love how these pictures remind me of photos of my mom when she was young in the summertime.
