I love olive green-particularly with leopard and gold jewelry. It is a combo that I often find myself reaching for-whether in the summer or the winter. And what do you know? My favorite denim jacket is making yet another appearance on the blog! Hopefully you guys aren’t too sick of it yet. Ha! Like I always say, a denim jacket is an important investment piece to add to your wardrobe. Not only are they versatile, but they go with just about anything, and those are the smartest pieces you can add to your closet!

Shifty

I love a good shift dress. It’s a great way to look polished without really putting in much thought or effort. Because let’s face it, sometimes getting dressed can be really HARD (no matter how many clothes you have in your closet!). So I always try to have a couple of these on hand in basic colors-a wardrobe hack, if you will. They are super flattering on just about any body type, and pair well with boots or pumps, blazers or denim jackets, and also happen to look great paired with faux fur vests! So if you don’t have a basic shift dress in your wardrobe, you should. Just another one of those items that will give you a ton of outfit options without breaking the bank!

Color

I am normally a color wearing gal, but lately, all I have been wanting to wear are the neutrals in my closet. So in an effort to get myself out of a colorless rut, I decided to break out my favorite geometric print pink pants. And boy am I glad that I did. I can’t tell you how good it felt to infuse some color and a little life into my outfit! So if you are feeling in a rut or unsure of what to wear this week, try giving a pop of color a try! Hopefully it will revive you like it revived me!!!!

Blanket Scarf

I love the blanket scarf trend. It’s such a chic way to stay cozy during the cold winter months, and a great way to add a pop of color to any outfit. In fact, I picked up this scarf at the Gap last season (you can see how I styled it last year on the blog here) for this very reason. I love having the (practical) option of adding a pretty pop of blue and pink to an outfit during the winter months. But I want to know, what do you all think about the blanket scarf trend???

Winter Pastels

I am loving the pastel trend this winter. To me, there is just something so soft and beautiful about wearing colors like lilac during the crisp, white, winter months. And not only are pastels an unexpected (and fun!) choice right now, but they are a nice transition from the bold holiday colors of red and green (not that you can’t still wear those colors now too!!)…

I am all about army green surplus jackets and they always seem to reign supreme in my closet this time of year. But truth be told, this camel color jacket has been my absolute favorite this season! It’s such a refreshing alternative to the ever popular olive-green jacket, and the gold hardware makes it feel extra special. We have had such a mild fall here in the SLC, that I almost forgot how brutal it can be to have to take blog photos during the winter months. But boy, was I sure reminded in a hurry when we shot these photos on Saturday. I guess it’s time to break out the winter coats, and pile on the layers. And speaking of layers? I love a great heart print sweater or sweatshirt-kind of takes me back to being a kid in the ’80’s! But a great print is always a super easy way to dress up an otherwise basic outfit. And who doesn’t love a great pop of cobalt blue? Blue is one of the colors this season and I am absolutely loving it!
