This time of the year makes me feel so conflicted inside. Part of me is so ready for pumpkin everything, blanket scarves, booties, and cozy layers. But the other half hates to see the days get shorter, the temps get cooler, and to have to put away all of my favorite summer dresses and sandals. So this week, I am embracing the last few days of summer and wearing all summer everything. Like this dress. Not only is it super cute, but seriously, how perfect is it for Labor Day weekend?

No matter how old you are, I believe there are ways to participate in the trends of the season (with a little tweaking here and there) to make them age appropriate. Take the cropped trend for example. I have been wanting to give this style a try for quite a while, but I’m obviously not going to be running around town showing off my stomach. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this top that is just long to keep me covered, but just short enough to fall into the cropped category. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s off-the-shoulder (which is my absolute favorite trend this season)!

I’d love to know, do you guys like to try out modified versions of different trends?

I initially saw this dress on one of my very favorite fashion bloggers and fell in LOVE. But when I saw the price, I was definitely hesitant about taking the plunge. I love a good tunic paired back to skinny jeans and a staple pair of pumps. It’s definitely a go-to look for me. And when I’m on the hunt for a new tunic, Free People is always a brand that I look to first. They have some of the best tops around, in my opinion.
