On Repeat

If you were to run into me on a typical Saturday in the Fall, I would most likely be wearing something similar to today’s outfit.  In my book, it’s tough to beat a staple chambray shirt (plaid is also often on repeat), my favorite skinnies, a vest for layering, and a pair of boots comfy enough for running errands or cheering my hubby on at a Cyclocross race.  This is definitely my go-to fall look, and if I am being honest, it has been for the last couple of years.  Not super exciting, I know.  But sometimes practicality wins out over fashion…

P.S. Aren’t the Fall colors absolutely stunning here in Utah???  I can’t get over it.

Shifting

I’m not ready to give up my dresses just yet-nor am I ready to break out the tights just yet either.  So I’ve found that the best way to extend the life of my favorite dresses into the Fall season is with a little layering.  And I am absolutely loving the look of a casual chambray shirt back to a more dressed up shift dress. For me, it’s the perfect alternative to a basic cardigan…

I hope you all are having a fantastic week.  I am hitting the road again for work today, which always makes things a little hectic in my life.  But be sure to stop by again tomorrow for another new outfit post!

Back To Basics

Not only is Fall officially here, but it is also officially in the air. And the first thing I seem to find myself reaching for these days is my favorite chambray shirt. Paired with fun accessories, it’s a comfy, chic way to kick off the season and ease yourself out of those easy, breezy summer clothes…

Summer Nights

Last night J and I went with some of our best friends to see one of our favorite musicians at one of the most beautiful amphitheaters ever-Michael Franti and Spearhead at Red Butte Gardens. It was an absolutely perfect night and we had an amazing time. And even though it was a little hot, we still decided to ride our vintage cruisers to the show so we didn’t have to deal with parking-and it was well worth the sweat. A perfect summer night that only served to remind me why I never want to see summer go…

While this outfit is extremely casual, I have to say that I am loving all of the playful colors.  Red and pink are a favorite color combo of mine and I am loving the pops of neon back to the mirrored aviators.  Who says comfort can’t be fun?

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Hi Ho Silver

I love to add color or a pop of color to the majority of my outfits. But sometimes, it’s tough to beat a classic black and white ensemble. And when I threw on this striped skirt back to a plain black top, I knew that silver accessories were the perfect way to complete this look…

I am heading to San Francisco for work this afternoon, which is a nice way to ease back into the groove of things after vacation. And though I have a feeling the weather might be a bit of a shock to my system, I can’t wait to try and squeeze in some of my favorite restaurants and maybe even a little shopping when all my meetings are done.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

80’s Accent

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. I love neon. And despite being raised in the 80’s, I am still working on getting my neon fix. But instead of layering multiple neons together, I am loving it as an accent, especially when paired back to unexpected neutrals!

Another trend that I am loving right now is the embellished sweatshirt.  Really, how fun that we have the option to be totally and completely comfortable while still adding a touch of sparkle!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week.  Thanks for reading!

Switzerland

As much as I love to wear vibrant hues and accessorize with pops of color, sometimes I crave a more neutral palette. At the end of the day, sometimes it’s just hard to beat layers of monochromatic tones finished off with cognac accessories and gold jewelry…

Today I am headed off to San Francisco for a little business trip followed by a weekend of fun in my favorite city by the bay (complete with a quick trip to wine country)!  I lived in SF for 4 months on an extended work assignment last year.  so as you can imagine, I am pretty darn excited to get back!

FPF: The Perfect Glossy Lip

The Perfect Glossy Lip

Bonne Bell Lipsmacker (you can find this in any drug store) |  Smashbox Limitless Lipgloss | Chanel Glossimer Lip Gloss

I LOVE a good glossy lip.  And while Chanel Glossimer remains at the top of my list, I also recently discovered another lip gloss that I am enamored with-and that is Smashbox Limitless Long Wearing gloss.  It is a fantastic product and lasts an amazingly long time.  BUT it is a touch sticky on the lip so I like to layer it with my favorite chapstick.  And then recently, on a whim I layered on my favorite Glossimer (Sweet Beige) over the top and the results were perfect.  An ultra glossy lip with incredible staying power and none of that uncomfortable stickiness!

Happy Weekend!

Teen Spirit

Oh, the ’90’s. NOT my favorite era in fashion. Maybe it was because I was an angsty teen trying to navigate my way through junior high and high school, or maybe my sense of style was a little more girly than grunge (thank goodness for Clueless!!). But I must say that I am enjoying revisiting certain pieces made famous during that decade-specifically flannels. Not only are they comfy, but they are super cute and look fantastic back to fun jewelry, boyfriend jeans, and a great pair of pumps. A little grunge glam if you will. Which in my book, is hands down much better than just plain old grunge.

Seeing Spots

Two black and white outfit posts in a row-now that’s saying something for a girl who loves color like I do. And contrary to how I thought I might feel, I have found the black and white trend to be quite refreshing this season. So considering this and my penchant for snow leopard prints (which you can read about it here) it’s no surprise that this dress caught my eye on a recent H&M trip. A hybrid of leopard and polka dots all wrapped up in black in white? How could I resist.

As I noted in yesterday’s post, J and I headed on a road trip to Montana this past weekend so J could ride in the annual Rolling Thunder cross race in Missoula.  It is a weekend we look forward to every year, not only because of the terrific event, but because we get to see family and friends while we are there.  And this year, of course, did not disappoint.  J had a podium finish in one of his two races, I snuck in some time with girlfriends (including meeting one’s little boy for the first time!), and most importantly, we were blessed to spend the weekend with J’s dad, and his brother and his wife (who just moved to the neighborhood where these photos were taken!!).  It was a long drive home on Sunday, but the weekend was well worth the trip.
