Tried and Tulle

To say I can’t get enough this Lookbook Store jacket would be an understatement.  I adore it.  I also adore this American Eagle dress-even though it’s a couple of years old.  And with the tulle trend still in frenzy mode, I am certainly glad that I have held onto it.  It’s definitely on frequent repeat in my closet and even on the blog!  You can see another favorite way I’ve styled it here

So I have to say, I absolutely LOVE these shoes, and I am super bummed about the dye transfer on them around my ankles (yikes!!).  So I have to ask, does anyone out there have any good products or remedies to remove denim markings from suede?  Please share if you do!  Otherwise, these shoes are going to have to be worn with pants only from here on out!

Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments and support.  I appreciate you guys so much!

Pleather

I have been on the hunt for a pair of pleather pants for a while now.  And wow, was a good pair hard to find!  My only requirement was that just the front of the pant was pleather (I didn’t want to end up like Ross in his full leather pants on Friends!), and the back, a good ponte.  And while there are lots of options on the market (and believe me, I tried them all), a good fitting pair was really hard to find.  But as usual, thank goodness for JCrew for coming through for me as usual and offering an amazing option in their factory stores.  And an even bigger thank you to my sweet hubby for tracking them down for me for Christmas!

I also have to say that I am loving the neutral color palette of this outfit.  After all of the colors and plaids I have been wearing throughout the holiday season, something just feels really good about going back to the basics.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week.  Thank you for stopping by!

Spotted

I kind of feel like light colored denim has the same stigma as white after labor day.  But this season it’s all about light denim-all year round.  And while I have been all about wearing lighter washes with sweaters and button downs, for some reason, I was having a hard time coming up with ways to style my denim jacket. But thank goodness for Pinterest which inspired me to try it back to leopard.  And I have to say, I am pretty sure this won’t be the last you’ll see of it this season!

Back To Basics

Not only is Fall officially here, but it is also officially in the air. And the first thing I seem to find myself reaching for these days is my favorite chambray shirt. Paired with fun accessories, it’s a comfy, chic way to kick off the season and ease yourself out of those easy, breezy summer clothes…

Candy Stripes

Color tends to be a pretty consistent trend in my summer wardrobe. And this fun, striped skirt from JCrew is no exception. And while I initially gravitated towards styling it back to heels and vibrant oranges, I am also looking forward to trying it with shades purples, or a favorite chambray shirt and pair of flats. Don’t you just love pieces that provide so much versatility in your wardrobe? I know I sure do!

Downtown Abby

Last week marked our big 2014 planning meetings. And while it was fun to discuss our fashion and growth strategies for the upcoming year, I always especially love the excuse to office out of our beautiful, brand new Macy’s in downtown SLC. And so of course, when Friday rolled around, my hubby and I took full advantage and met for drinks at one of our favorite local downtown spots. It was the perfect way to enjoy some gorgeous spring weather and kick off a nice, relaxing weekend after a week full of craziness.

We all know I am obsessed with pink shoes.  And this bubblegum pink pair is my current favorite because they are amazingly comfortable.  But can we talk about my little bow top for minute?  It’s pretty safe to say that I am beyond obsessed with it.  The teeny, tiny bows are so darn cute and on top of that, they are velveteen-totally reminds me of when I was a kid.  Plus, it was under $15.  Can’t beat that!!!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend.

P.S.  I am hosting my first Stella & Dot trunk show this week and I am so excited!!!  If you are a Utah gal and would like to come, please leave a comment or shoot me an email (abby_doll@hotmail.com) and I will send you the invite.  And for those of you not in the SLC, if you are looking to order something sparkly from Stella & Dot, please use the link below!  They just released their new summer line along with a gorgeous new handbag lineup.  Seriously swoon worthy.

I Heart Shoes

It’s no secret that I love mustard and navy together.  A perfect combination, if you will (which you can read about here and here).   And on top of a great color combination, nothing makes me feel better when getting dressed in the morning than putting a few of my favorite things together-which of the moment are a great blazer, anything striped, and as always, a fantastic pair of shoes.  Because shoes, at least for me, make everything that much better.

I love shoes.  Nothing completes an outfit for me like a fabulous pair of kicks.  Maybe it’s because I have spent my career as a shoe buyer and designer, or maybe it’s my destiny, but shoes are and always will be my favorite fashion accessory.  And as crazy as it might make my husband (sorry J!), I just can’t help myself .  Pretty sure I’ll be a shoe collector for life.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween!

Seeing Spots

Two black and white outfit posts in a row-now that’s saying something for a girl who loves color like I do. And contrary to how I thought I might feel, I have found the black and white trend to be quite refreshing this season. So considering this and my penchant for snow leopard prints (which you can read about it here) it’s no surprise that this dress caught my eye on a recent H&M trip. A hybrid of leopard and polka dots all wrapped up in black in white? How could I resist.

As I noted in yesterday’s post, J and I headed on a road trip to Montana this past weekend so J could ride in the annual Rolling Thunder cross race in Missoula.  It is a weekend we look forward to every year, not only because of the terrific event, but because we get to see family and friends while we are there.  And this year, of course, did not disappoint.  J had a podium finish in one of his two races, I snuck in some time with girlfriends (including meeting one’s little boy for the first time!), and most importantly, we were blessed to spend the weekend with J’s dad, and his brother and his wife (who just moved to the neighborhood where these photos were taken!!).  It was a long drive home on Sunday, but the weekend was well worth the trip.
