Booties and Dresses

One of my favorite combos for the warmer months of the Fall season? Booties and dresses.  And while I’ve loved this shark-bite hem dress as a summer staple, I am particularly liking how it pairs back to booties, and can’t wait to wear it with my favorite leather jacket when the temps start to drop.  But for now, it’s a perfect transitional piece, that is comfy to boot! Plus, it’s only $21!!!

Casual

I wear my army green surplus jackets all the time.  So when I happened to stumble on my favorite silhouette in a pale pink color, I was 100% sold.  I love putting a new spin on an old classic, because not only is it comfortable, but it still feels fresh and new at the same time.

Simple

Believe it or not, sometimes I have no idea what to wear. Honestly,  I think we all have those days where we just stand in our closets completely blank, not really knowing where to start.  So when I find myself having one of those moments, I’ve found that sometimes the best solution is to go back to basics and go with what I “know”.  For me, that is a simple top (usually a tank), a favorite pair of jeans, and a pair of pumps.  It’s an outfit I always feel good in and it’s typically appropriate for any occasion.  Plus, it’s a great blank canvas to change-up with a fun necklace, statement pumps, or other great accessories!

And be sure so scroll to the bottom of the post-I’ve got a round-up of the BEST Labor Day sales below (including where you can score my favorite go-to tops, like the one in this post, for 40% off!!!)! Happy holiday weekend, friends!

Rehearsal Dinner

If you follow me on Insta (and if you don’t, you should!), then you know I was in Austin, Texas last week celebrating the wedding of one of my best college friends.  It was an absolutely fabulous weekend and I could not be happier for my sweet friend and her new hubby.  And despite my best intentions to take blog photos of what I wore to all of the festivities, I was having too much fun to pause and break out the DSLR.

So even though I’m back home in the SLC, I wanted to recreate for y’all what I wore to the rehearsal dinner.  I haven’t been to many weddings in the winter, and it made me realize that they can be a little tricky to dress for.  Even though Austin is fairly mild, I wasn’t sure it would be warm enough for a sleeveless dress-and I was right.  So instead, I opted to pair one of my favorite skirts from this past summer, with one of my favorite tops from the holiday season.  And I have to say that I really love the way it turned out.  Not only is navy one of my favorite colors for a formal event, but mixing it back to gold and leopard is one of my very favorite combinations of all time-a total no-brainer for such a special event!

Just A Sliver

One look that was all over NYFW that I am feeling a little on the fence about? Midriff baring tops. Now when I was in my early 20’s, I most definitely would have embraced this trend. But now that I am a littler older, it’s daring a look that pushes me out of my fashion comfort zone. And of course, forces me to acknowledge that certain trends are perhaps sometimes better suited for younger demographics. And while you won’t see me baring my full midriff anytime soon, I must admit I love the idea of taking a classic outfit, adding some pretty jewels and toughed-up shoes, and showing just a hint of skin. Now that I think I can handle…

When my husband was snapping these photos, he didn’t realize at first that I was showing a sliver of my midriff.  But when he did, he couldn’t help but laugh at me (thanks a lot!!!).  So hopefully you are not having the same reaction!  But I have to ask, what do you think of the midriff trend?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Deer

I love this tee. It’s just one of those pieces that brings a smile to my face. And while I normally gravitate towards pairing graphic tee’s with denim, I also love the contrast of a casual tee back to something dressier, like a pencil skirt and layered baubles. A whimsical, yet polished look perfect for date night, or a girl’s night out on the town…

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  Ours was spent in Park City with family and filled with lots of biking, eating, and laughing.  And I’ve got to say, it was pretty darn wonderful.

And even thought it’s never easy to get back into the swing of things, I hope you are all having a great start to your week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Baubles and Dots

There are so many fun trends in fashion right now, that it’s hard to say just which one is my favorite. But one particular trend I am loving experimenting with is layering multiple necklaces. From chains, to sparkles, to pops of neon-pretty much anything goes. And like many of my favorite things in life, the more the merrier!

Lip Service

As much as I love color, sometimes I just want to wear something neutral that doesn’t require much effort or coordination. But because I love color so much, those types of outfits always feel slightly boring to me. Well thank goodness for bright lips and nails to solve that dilemma!! In addition to accessories (of course), one of my favorite ways to add a pop of color to an outfit is either on my nails or on my lips. And while pretty, polished nails are always a staple for me,  lately I have found that a swipe of bright lipstick not only adds interest, but brightens the face making me look and feel younger, and maybe even a teeny, tiny bit (gasp!) sexy.  And come on, who doesn’t want to look and feel young and sexy???

I think I will always be more of a lip gloss girl, but am finding that I’m wearing lipstick more and more frequently.  And while these are still far and away my favorite, MAC has some fantastic colors and I find their lipsticks to be very comfortable when layered with a chapstick or a lip gloss.  And while I’ve been bold and tried everything from hot pink, to orange, to bright red, one trend I haven’t tried yet is a burgundy lip. Oh the drama!!!  But I think I’m ready to give it a go.  Stay tuned…
