I was beyond thrilled when the sweet Fashion Editor from Salt Lake Magazine contacted me and asked if I would sit down with her for an interview about my blog and career in the fashion industry for their September/October issue. And as you can imagine, of course I said yes! What an honor to be able to talk about All Dolled Up and work with some of the amazing (and talented!) people behind the glossy publication!

And so today, I wanted to share with you the looks I styled for the photo shoot. I had so much fun coming up with Fall inspired outfits for this project (even though it was a sweltering 100 degrees the day we shot!), and it was the perfect excuse to finally buy the tulle skirt from Space 46 Boutique that I had been eyeing for months. And let me tell you, every girl should own a tulle skirt!

Black and White

I love the black and white trend this season. And because black is such a staple (and something I know all of you already own in your own personal wardrobes), this should be an easy trend for anyone to get in on this season without necessarily having to pick up anything new. And while black and white is a relatively safe trend to try, bordering on the more serious and sophisticated side of style, remember that it’s okay to have a little fun with it and think outside of the box too-like mixing graphic prints and stripes together.

I am never, ever ready for summer to end, but I am always ready for fall fashion! And even though the temps are still relatively warm, fall is definitely starting to creep into the air here in Utah and I can feel myself starting to gravitate towards darker colors, neutrals, denim, leopard, light jackets, and vests (of course)! All of which are super easy key items to start to transition those summer outfits into fall! I love a great chambray dress. It is the epitome of casual chic, and a perfect (and super easy) piece for summer that also transitions well into Fall! I especially love to style mine back to neutral accessories and gold jewelry and love the extra glam factor that a floppy hat and white bag can add. It feels to me like the prefect ensemble for a Sunday brunch or fun lunch date. Plus, you can score this dress from Old Navy for less than $30. Talk about a no-brainer!

Crop It Like It’s Hot

I loved the crop shirt trend the last go around and fondly remember wearing cute crops with overalls and Birks. Heck, I was even wearing crop tops with low-rise jeans performing at the bars in Nashville back in the day! I was also in my late teens/early twenties at the time-so bearing a little midriff seemed perfectly acceptable. But now that the crop top trend is back, and finding me in my early 30’s, I’ve been a little unsure as to how to tackle this trend. Because at my age, I’m certainly not going to be running around with my navel hanging out! And while I’ve done some cute layering looks with crops, that doesn’t exactly work during the warmer summer months. So for those of you finding yourselves in the same predicament as me, I have found that a super cute and age appropriate way to wear a crop top, is with a high-wasited skirt. It still gives you the look and feel of the crop, but without baring all of the skin! And trust me, your belly button will thank you!
