Black and White

I have to wear all black when I do store visits for work, so I typically tend to shy away from wearing a lot of black in my personal life.  But when I saw this cute dress at Express-I just couldn’t resist.  I was initially drawn to it because of the cute one shoulder silhouette, but the black and white tribal print feels so fresh for the season.  Plus, the fun ruffle details makes it totally different from anything else I have in my wardrobe.  And I have to say, I am really looking forward to dressing this one up AND down for a more casual looks this summer!

Romper Time

When I stumbled on a romper version of my favorite shirt ever, I knew that I had to have it.  But because I have long legs, and a short torso (I’m still only 5’3″), I tend to struggle with finding rompers that fit my body type.  So when I put it on and it fit perfectly (and felt like pajamas!) it was a definite no-brainer.  And it really is a perfect summer addition to my wardrobe that is different than anything else I own, all the while being as familiar as my favorite shirt.  And an added bonus?  It’s the perfect thing to wear for the 4th of July paired back to red heels and a bold red lip!

Pleats

I am loving the pleated trend this season.  And of course navy.  I don’t know what it is about navy dresses, but I am always drawn to them.  So when I spotted this navy pleated number at BCBG, I knew it was a great summer dress-perfect for a plethora of different occasions, and an easy piece to style a lot of different ways.  And those are the best types of items to add to your wardrobe-the ones that give you lots of options…

Gingham

Gingham has always been one of my very favorite prints.  So when I saw that my favorite Portofino shirt from Express came in a light blue gingham this spring, it was an obvious choice to add to my wardrobe.  And let me tell you, I have already worn this shirt a ton AND have so many more ideas of how I will continue to style it different ways all summer long. But I want to know, what you are guys thinking of the gingham trend this season?

Sheinside

I’ve been eyeing the Sheinside website for quite a while now.  So when they reached out and asked if I would be interested in trying out some of their clothes, I couldn’t help but oblige.  And while there were SO many cute things to choose from on their site, I ultimately settled on a dress that is almost identical to my favorite Free People dress (which you can see here).  At a mere price tag of $30 vs. the $148 original version, I wanted to compare the two and really get a feel for the quality of clothing on Sheinside.  And you guys, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. While it is a little shorter than the my Free People dress, I overall like the fit better.  The arms were also a little slimmer too, which I also prefer.  And I have to say, I was also quite impressed with the quality-not only the was the fabric very nice, but the dress was also fully lined.  After this experience, I will definitely be shopping with Sheinside again.  In fact, you can see my current wish list at the bottom of the post!

Tailor Made

As I’ve gotten older, I have learned the importance of a good tailor.  And that just because something doesn’t fit you off the rack, doesn’t mean that it can’t still work for you.  And the dress in today’s post is the perfect example.  My mom and I stumbled on this gem at Anthropologie when my parents were in town a couple of weekends ago.  It was originally $228 and we found it on the sale rack marked down to $48 (um, WOW!).  It was the gorgeous fabric that initially drew me to it, but the original length was tea length and it just swallowed me up and was really unflattering.  But neither of us could get over the fabric (you should see it in person!) so we hatched a plan to have it shortened and I took it to my tailor (who also couldn’t get over the fabric), and he shortened it for me for a mere $20.  And I have to say, I think it is one of my very favorite dresses in my closet right now.  I guess it goes to show that it can be worth it to think outside of the box a little bit.  So if you don’t have a tailor, I would definitely suggest finding a good one in your neighborhood-you just never know when they might come in handy!

Neon

We have been having the rainiest weather here in Utah, which has made it really difficult to take outfit photos.  So my apologies for being a little quiet over here on the blog.  Hopefully once we get through this week, our normal sunny weather will decide to return to us!  But today, I wanted to share one of my favorite tops with you.  And not just because I love it, but because you can score it on MAJOR sale today!  Not only is it the perfect length (a little longer than most button downs), but it has super cute grosgrain ribbon trim, and is the perfect punch of color for both spring and summer (think of how cute it would look with white!!).  Link is below!

Neon Top:  JCrew (use code: SALENEWS for an additional 30% off-also comes in white) | Skinnies: Paige Denim | Tassel Necklace: Jeweliq, LOVE this | Rings: Suz Somersall (here and here) | Cuff: Macy’s | Sunnies: Karen Walker | Bag: Tory Burch | Heels: INC (LOVE these, really comfy)

Hope you are all having a fantastic!  Thank you SO much for stopping by!

No Parking

When I was a senior in high school, one of my favorite senior portraits was in front of a really cool “No Parking” sign painted on a falling down building.  So when we were heading out to dinner in SF last weekend with friends and I saw this sign on the side of garage, I had to make J stop and snap some photos for the blog.  And while I am wearing my usual go-to out outfit (leather jacket, a silky blouse, and my favorite skinnies), it’s my shoes that are noteworthy.  As I’ve said many times before, I am a sucker for a great pair of statement shoes, and these certainly fit the bill.  And not only is this particular pair gorgeous (you should see them in person!) AND under $70, but they are super comfy to boot!

Boho

Well hi there, friends!  I guess I took a little hiatus from the blog!  I have been so busy with traveling for work, celebrating my birthday in wine country, and blogging over at SLMag, that I’ve fallen a little behind!  But I’m back and hope you are all having a fantastic week!

Today I want to share with you the dress that I wore on my birthday to ride bikes with my sweet hubby through Sonoma for a little wine tasting and fun (if you follow me on Insta @alldolledupblog, then you already got a chance to see it!).  I am very short (5’3″), so don’t typically tend to go for the flowy, boho look since a lot of the tops and dresses tend to swallow me up and not look so flattering.  But I have been seeing this dress everywhere lately, and really wanted to try it on.  And surprisingly, I loved it.  In fact, it turned out to be the perfect thing to wear for riding a bike, while still looking somewhat put together at the vineyards!

IMG_2768 IMG_2790 IMG_2774 IMG_2789 IMG_2812 IMG_2802 IMG_2809

Dress: Free People (on sale!) | Necklace: Jeweliq (sold out) LOVE this one | Ring: Kendra Scott | Cuff: Macy’s | Sunnies: Karen Walker | Bag: Marc Jacobs (my color is sold out, but I am loving this one and it’s on sale for under $200!) | Wedges: Jessica Simpson (on sale and super comfy!)

Also, you will have to forgive the quality of these photos.  The fog and wind both rolled in so fast, that this was all we were able to snap before the lighting and weather made it too impossible to shoot.  I have some more fun photos that I will be sharing later this week with a complete round up of our amazing trip!  So stay tuned!!!!

Hope you are all having a great week!

Brights

In case you haven’t noticed, I am into all things floral lately.  I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t seem to help myself.  And stripes and florals together?  Pretty sure that is one of my favorite combos of all time.  Especially when you add in a little pop of leopard!
