Red Pop

Besides sequins (and velvet this year!), one of my favorite things about dressing for the holiday season, is incorporating pops of red into my outfits. Whether I’m dressed up, or casual, I love how a subtle pop of red, like a fun pair of shoes (and a Starbucks red cup, of course!), can give your look a festive feel!

Just A Little Bit

I was a little nervous about this top when it first arrived in the mail. Not because I don’t love it, because, man, do I ever. But because it’s a little more on the cropped side than I’m used to, and I wasn’t quite sure how to style it. So after trying it on with a lot of different things, I decided it looked the best with high-waisted skirts. And while this is a look that is just a little bit “sexier” than I would typically gravitate towards, it’s still one that’s chic, and would be perfect for a date night or girl’s night out. And it’s definitely an outfit that is really fun to try.

You guys! I love this dress SO much. I was totally on the fence about it before I tried it on, but now that it’s arrived, I seriously can’t seem to stop thinking of different ways to style it. I love that you can dress it up or dress it down, and that it lends itself well back to a pop of color. The possibilities really are endless. And if you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that I love adding items to my wardrobe that present multiple outfit options. That is the best, and most cost efficient way to build your wardrobe!

First of all, I LOVE the splatter print of this dress. There is just something so nostalgic about it to me. I think it’s because it reminds me of a denim jacket I had when I was a kid with neon splatter paint all over it!

So, I’m kind of sort of obsessed with this dress. And you know why? Because it is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I love that I can totally dress it up (like in today’s post), or that I could wear with it with a pair of Chuck Taylors, or some cute wedges and a floppy hat. Pieces like this, my friends, are the best and most cost-effective things you can add to your wardrobe. Plus, wouldn’t this dress be super cute dressed down for the 4th of July?

Today’s outfit is all about staples. This skirt from JCrew has been a tried and true favorite of mine for the past two seasons. And apparently I’m not alone, because they keep bringing it back year after year. It’s just that good. This tank from Old Navy is another piece that is going to be on heavy rotation in my closet for seasons to come. And these shoes? Definitely my go-to pair this season (in case you hadn’t noticed!). In years past, I haven’t typically had a lot of blue in my closet. But this season, it seems to be a color that I am really gravitating towards.
