Well hello there, Friday! And hello there, sweet readers! I am so glad to be back with another outfit post for you guys today! My apologies for the radio silence, but I was traveling all week for work, and it poured rain all last weekend, so I fell a little behind with my outfit photos. But the good news is I’m back, AND it’s the end of another work week! So what better way to kick off the first weekend of the glorious month of October than by showcasing my favorite buffalo plaid shirt and destroyed black skinnies!

Think Pink

Quick (late!) post coming to you guys today. This was actually a recent outfit that I wore to work and I just had to share because I am loving bubble gum pink so much this summer. It is a fantastic, versatile color and of course pairs perfectly back to black skinnies and nude pumps with a pop of leopard!

White Out

I love white bags and have been wanting to add one to my collection for quite some time. And while I only had three specific features I knew the bag had to have (saffiano leather, gold hardware, and a structured shape), I had a really hard time finding just the right one. Well thank goodness for Rebecca Minkoff and her huge spring sample sale coinciding with my birthday this year! I was able to snatch up the Avery tote which is not only gorgeous (and one of my favorite RM bags EVER), but it also met all of my white bag requirements. AND the icing on top of the cake? I was able to get it for less than half of the regular retail price! My favorite kind of purchase!

Derby Style

Even though I was born and raised out west, I did live in the south for a few years when I pursued a country music career and attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. And let me just say, my years in the Music City were some of the best of my life. There is just something about the South that is so near and dear to me. What can I say? I’m a country girl at heart. And because I especially love all of the incredible traditions that come from the South, J and I decided to throw a Derby party this year. I have always wanted to host one, but haven’t had the chance since I moved to Utah. But this year, it was the perfect excuse to get extra dressed up, enjoy the gorgeous weather, drink cocktails in the afternoon, and celebrate my birthday (a few days early) with all of our favorite people! It was a great time had by all, and served as the perfect reminder to wear big, floppy hats more often!

Leopard on leopard. What do y’all think? Yay or nay? I think yay. I am obviously a huge fan of print mixing, but typically gravitate towards pairing different patterns together (florals and stripes, stripes and leopard, polka dots and stripes, etc.). And while I believe it’s perfectly acceptable to mix two of the same print together, it definitely works best if you follow a couple of rules. The first is that the patterns are in the same or a complimentary color palette. And the second is that the size of the two different prints are contrasting. Pretty easy, don’t you think?

Radiant Orchid

I have to admit, I usually get pretty excited every year when Pantone announces their “official” color of the year. But last year I was so thrilled when they announced that the “it” color of 2013 was Emerald Green, that I didn’t hold out much hope for 2014-that is until they announced that their official color of the year was Radiant Orchid (insert swoon here). Now if there is one color that could top Emerald Green in my book, this is most definitely it. I love plaid. Like really love it. But of all of the cute plaids I’ve seen this season, a classic buffalo check plaid just might be my favorite. And so when I saw this scarf at Gap (for 40%!), I knew it was coming home with me. And hats! Oh my gosh. I LOVE hats! I mean really, how easy (and fun) is it to just throw on a super simple outfit and a few cute accessories to really an outfit take it up a notch!

I love finding fashion inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. And that is precisely where I stumbled upon the jacket and peplum top that I’m wearing in this post. Both were at the top of my shopping list this fall, and while I didn’t anticipate wearing them together, I am loving the structure and lines of the jacket back to the flirty and almost futuristic ruffle of the peplum. And while my hubs is a big fan of the jacket, peplum remains one of those styles that he just can’t wrap his head around. I guess we can add it to that list of fashions (along with fur vests and maxi dresses) that men just don’t understand…
