One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is dressing up for Holiday parties. And sequins of course. Lots and lots of sequins! So when I saw this darling silver matte sequin swing dress at Fira (one of my favorite online boutiques), I knew it would be perfect for the holiday season!

For today’s post, I’m styling it with a gorgeous blush jacket (that is UNDER $40, BTW), and my favorite floral crown, by the talented Miss Stevi Marie. But I already have a laundry list of other ways I plan to wear this dress over the coming weeks. In fact, I’m thinking of wearing it over a Christmas plaid button down to a party this coming weekend. I have to admit, I am so used to wearing my skinny jeans, that it feels a little funny to wear a different silhouette of denim. And while it is definitely going to take some getting used to (just like it did when I started wearing skinnies!), I have to admit, it is kind of nice to add a different style to add to my wardrobe rotation. Mad for Plaid

To me, one of the best parts of Fall is all of the plaid I get to wear! Ha! And while I tend to gravitate towards plaid shirts, I am kind of obsessed with plaid dresses this season. Not only does it feel like a fresh silhouette, but they are perfect now, and will also work later paired with leggings and boots when the snow starts to fly.

Tunic

Confession: I ordered this “top” thinking that it was a dress. But when it arrived, it was much too short, and the slit was way too high (yikes!) for me to wear it as a dress, let alone in public. Ha! But I loved the print and fabric so much (it is a nice, sturdy scuba material), that I stewed over how to wear it for a while, not wanting to return it. And I finally decided that it could indeed be worn be worn as a top. In the end, while I still wish it was a dress, I am loving how it looks with leggings, and can’t wait to wear it again when the temperature drops with a cute blazer or leather jacket.

Juxtaposition

I didn’t think about it when I put this outfit together, but when I was editing these photos, I noticed the juxtaposition that I created-floral shoes and a beanie paired together in the same look! Ha! But for some reason, I think it works. Maybe it’s the part of me that’s longing for warmer weather, or maybe it’s the color combo of mint and pale pink that I can’t seem to stop wearing lately. I love a good shift dress. It’s a great way to look polished without really putting in much thought or effort. Because let’s face it, sometimes getting dressed can be really HARD (no matter how many clothes you have in your closet!). So I always try to have a couple of these on hand in basic colors-a wardrobe hack, if you will. They are super flattering on just about any body type, and pair well with boots or pumps, blazers or denim jackets, and also happen to look great paired with faux fur vests! So if you don’t have a basic shift dress in your wardrobe, you should. Just another one of those items that will give you a ton of outfit options without breaking the bank!

It’s no secret that I love leopard. I mean, leopard is a neutral, after all!!!! So when I spotted this vest at Forever21, I knew it was a piece I would get a lot of wear out of-and I have! And because you guys showed so much interest when I posted a pic of it on Instagram the other day, I thought I would share it on the blog!!! Also, what are you guys thinking of the straight, sleek hair look? I am personally a fan of loose waves, but I have been so inspired by so many ladies rocking sleek tresses that I just had to test them out!!

Dolled Up

I love getting dolled up. And the holiday season presents exactly that opportunity. But living in a state with a cold winter climate, sometimes I feel like I don’t have any coats or jackets that look or feel all that glamorous. So for quite a while, I have been on the hunt for a great (and affordable) faux fur animal print coat-and I am happy to report that I have finally found one (AND that it costs less than $65)!!! Not only is it super cozy (it reminds me of my favorite faux fur throw), but I love the vintage feel of it, and the idea of pairing it back to great heels and a dress for a NYE party, or wearing it with boots, skinny black pants, and a silk top (like I did for a friend’s casual wedding reception over the weekend)…
