It finally happened this weekend-the sun came out. We have had such a cold spring here in the SLC, it really feels like it has been forever since that’ s happened. Between all of the rain, and snow, and cold we have been having, I couldn’t have been happier that big, beautiful, ball of fire in the sky finally decided to shine down us. And even though it was a little chilly, it still seemed appropriate to wear a dress for the occasion…

There are two items that I am wearing in this outfit that are absolute staples in my wardrobe. And on top of that, they are two things that I think every gal should own. The first is a great jean jacket. Perfection to throw on in the spring time over dresses or sleeveless tops when the weather is still a touch chilly, and also ideal for cool summer nights. And then of course, my tried and true favorite cognac pumps. Even though they are heels, the neutral color makes them feel a touch more casual, the color goes with everything, and the heel height on this particular pair lets me walk around all day in long in them. So if you are looking to purchase a couple of staples this spring, these are both items that should definitely be considered!

Tassel Ho!

I love a good tassel necklace. Maybe it’s because I’m from Montana and they remind me of a (fashionable) bolo tie, or maybe it’s just because they feel so new and different this season. Either way, a tassel necklace is an easy piece for anyone to wear and something simple (and inexpensive) everyone should add to their wardrobe this spring!

Editing these photos only served to make me acutely aware of how anxious I am for the arrival of spring and summer. Not only am I looking forward to warmer temps, sunshine, longer days, and fewer layers, but a little color on my pale skin definitely won’t hurt either!

For some reason, the extra week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year has really thrown me for a loop. But I’m finally feeling back on track and think it’s safe to say that it feels like Christmas. Hooray!!! In fact, I am counting down the minutes and seconds until the weekend officially hits. J and I have so many fun things planned-from last minute Christmas shopping, to cocktails downtown to take in the city Christmas lights, to a Whie Elephant Christmas party with friends. And I might even decide to eat Christmas cookies for breakfast (stranger things have happened!). I love shorts, but truth be told, the majority of the shorts in my closet have always been some form of denim or another, and the majority of those have had cut off hems-which is great for summer, and might I add practical (yes, practical). But now that shorts have taken on a whole new meaning and are a must-have summer fashion staple, I knew that in preparation for warmer weather I had to reassess and add some pieces to my wardrobe that could be worn with sky-high heels or in lieu of a skirt.
