Comfy, Cozy, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Each and every year, I mourn the passing of summer. But truth be told, if winter wasn’t looming on the other side, fall would no doubt be my very favorite season. I love boots, and layering, and cozy sweaters, holiday cheer, crockpot meals, that unbeatable brisk feeling in the air, gorgeous fall foliage, and of course all-things-pumpkin. If I could alternate between summer and fall (with a little skiing in between), I would do it in a heartbeat. So if anyone knows of a region with that kind of climate, kindly let me know. 😉

When J and I were in Montana last weekend, the weather was much colder than it has been in the SLC (45 degrees vs. 75 degrees!). So truly, it was my first opportunity of the season to make my boots, favorite go-to sweater, army surplus jacket, and pumpkin spice lattes a necessary part of my weekend-which made my little heart oh-so-happy!

If you are a follower of this blog, then I must apologize if you are tired of seeing my Aldo Farmar boots in so many posts.  But what can I say? Try as I might, it’s tough to find a tried-and-true pair of boots that work for just about any occasion.  But I am obviously a sucker for a good cognac boot and am happy to report I have found this season’s Farmar and am looking forward to sharing them with you in an upcoming post.  But be forewarned, you’ll probably grow tired of seeing the new pair too! A creature of habbit and comfort am I!!

Saturdays in the Park

I love Saturdays in the Fall. My hubby races Cyclocross (a hybrid sport of mountain biking and road biking), and I look forward to getting out the cowbell and our SLR each weekend to cheer him on and snap photos of him for a change. It’s so nice to be out in the crisp fall air and have the opportunity to see so many different parks and areas around Utah that we normally wouldn’t get to explore!

This past Saturday brought us up to beautiful Ogden for race day. And while most races are in the morning and you can normally find me straight from boot camp running around the course in my LuluLemon gear and tennis shoes, this was an afternoon race so I actually had to wear real clothes for the occasion. However, I found myself a bit stumped as to what real clothes I could wear both to the race and then directly out for beers with friends following. I seem to have an easy time getting super dressed up or being super casual, but it’s the in between that I always find to be a struggle. So I did what any strategic thinking fashionista would do and I pulled out my favorite grey tee, my most comfy skinny jeans, my best worn in boots (with just enough of a heel that I could run around but not feel frumpy), and then threw on some fun jewelry and a leopard cardi for some spunk. And I have to say, it ended up being the perfect outfit for a casual, fun fall day.

Neon was all the rage this past summer and will continue to be an important trend through the end of 2013. And while it does pose to be a bit more challenging, it is perfectly acceptable to layer it into your fall and winter wardrobe. When I bought my neon yellow bag a couple of months ago, I actually bought it with fall in mind. I knew it would look fantastic back to both grey and cognac and would be a great and simple way to add a pop of color to more earthy, cool weather looks. How would you style neon back to your fall neutrals?

Left, Right, Left

An army surplus jacket is a fantastic staple to add to any wardrobe-and for an abundance of reasons. The first being that they go with just about anything from jeans and boots, to frilly dresses, to skirts with heels. They also make for the perfect layering piece this time of year when it’s too warm for a heavier coat, but too cool to go without. Plus they are just down right cute, which is obviously what really counts. 😉

This past weekend marked 6 years to the day that J asked me to marry him. And oh what an amazing engagement weekend it was. So in honor of such an important day in our lives we decided to spend the day up in Park City to celebrate, enjoy the gorgeous fall weather, and take a little stroll down memory lane. And not only did we have a fabulous time, but it was the first time I have worn boots all season. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore boot season and was happy to pull my favorite pair out of summer storage, but I have to admit it felt a bit strange to put socks on with anything other than tennis shoes. Guess I better get used to it.

Wild About Rompers

Are rompers a do or a don’t?  In my book they are definitely a do.  They are fun and flirty and a great way to add some variety to your style.  I am absolutely wild about them this season and am particularly fond of the fact that there are now so many options of rompers to choose from (much more so than in the past two seasons).  I picked up the below number at Macy’s recently and love that it is not only a romper, but that it has only one shoulder (one of my favorite silhouettes).  Plus because it is black, it is essentially a blank canvas which will give me the opportunity to style it a lot of different ways this summer.  But for a last minute dinner date with my hubby this weekend, I decided a pop of neon yellow was the way to go.

Romper:  BarIII via Macy’s (recent)

Neon Belt:  Macy’s

Bracelets:  Tiffany and Co., H&M, Forever21, Macy’s

Watch:  Michael Kors via Macy’s

Cocktail Ring:  Flea Market in Italy

Earrings:  ArdenB (old)

Neon Shoes:  Aldo for Nordstrom (sold out)

But alas, as much as I love rompers, there is one slight problem with them-they aren’t the easiest for using the restroom.  Lol.  So if you are going to invest in a romper, make sure you only wear it when you aren’t drinking too much water or imbibing in too many cocktails.  😉

Happy Monday everyone!!
