About Face

I love, love, love the military trend. Most likely because I have an obsession with cute jackets. And what’s cuter than a bomber? Or a surplus jacket? They are the perfect topper to just about any outfit. And while I normally tend to gravitate towards shades of army green, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this navy number when I spotted it at Macy’s a couple of months back. And even though the temps are still pretty warm, I can already tell that this is going to be a fantastic staple in my fall wardrobe…

Just A Sliver

One look that was all over NYFW that I am feeling a little on the fence about? Midriff baring tops. Now when I was in my early 20’s, I most definitely would have embraced this trend. But now that I am a littler older, it’s daring a look that pushes me out of my fashion comfort zone. And of course, forces me to acknowledge that certain trends are perhaps sometimes better suited for younger demographics. And while you won’t see me baring my full midriff anytime soon, I must admit I love the idea of taking a classic outfit, adding some pretty jewels and toughed-up shoes, and showing just a hint of skin. Now that I think I can handle…

When my husband was snapping these photos, he didn’t realize at first that I was showing a sliver of my midriff.  But when he did, he couldn’t help but laugh at me (thanks a lot!!!).  So hopefully you are not having the same reaction!  But I have to ask, what do you think of the midriff trend?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Fashion Fusion

I had such a fantastic time at the Fall Fashion Fusion event at Fashion Place Mall last Friday.  From the red carpet arrival, to the VIP treatment, and all of the goodies c/o Fashion Place, I felt pretty darn special.  And not only that, but show was fun and inspiring and of course I always LOVE seeing the designs created by the students at the Fashion Institute. And with that, I thought I might end the week by sharing some photos from the evening with all of you!

Fall Into Color

I’ve got a bad habit. When I buy something extra special, or that I really love, I often find I let it stay tucked neatly into my closet saving it for the “perfect” occasion. And sometimes, that perfect occasion is awfully slow in coming. So I am trying to be better about wearing those “special” pieces right off the bat. But I’ve got to admit-I’m a work in progress.

But lucky for me, when styled appropriately, color is perfectly acceptable during the fall and winter seasons. And that means there will hopefully still be lots of special occasions for me to wear my favorite (previously unworn) Kate Spade skirt. And while the temps are still pretty warm, I am loving it back to denim, for a look that’s both seasonally and weather appropriate!

So I have to ask.  Does anyone else out there have the same bad habit I do?  Do you wear your special items right away?  Or save them for later?

Thanks for stopping by.  You all brighten my day more than you know.

Blossom Boutique

I was so excited when I was contacted by a cute local boutique here in Utah to do a collaboration. I absolutely love finding new stores that have unique items, especially when they are affordable. And Blossom Boutique did not disappoint. In fact, they have so many cute items online and in store that I had a tough time narrowing it down. But I completely fell in love with this camo tee the moment I saw it. It’s super soft, fits perfectly, is a bit longer (which is always a bonus in a t-shirt), and has a price tag that can’t be beat. I can already tell that I will be styling it endless ways this fall. And given the current popularity of camo, I think it’s pretty safe to say a camo tee is a staple that every gal should have in her wardrobe this season…

Perfect Harmony

I am loving the sneak peeks I am getting through social media from all of the happenings in NYC for Fashion Week.  And I have to say that one trend I am happy to see will be continuing into the Spring 2014 season is black and white.  In my opinion, no other color combo creates such perfect harmony while being so chic and effortless at the same time.  Plus it creates the ideal canvas to add a pop of color, or a pretty metallic.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  Ours was packed with fun events-so of course it went by way too fast.  But fortunately, we’ve got a lot of fun things on the horizon to look forward to, including a mini Vegas vacay and a trip back to Nashville for my 10 year Vanderbilt reunion.  And believe me, I’m already planning my outfits for both trips and can’t wait to share them with all of you!

FPF: Smashbox Brow Tech To Go

Eyebrows are important. Like really important. They frame the eyes and give definition to the face. But all too often, I see women neglecting their eyebrows. And while I must admit that at first I found the thought of penciling in my eyebrows to be a little bit daunting, ever since I discovered Smashbox Brow Tech To Go, my eyebrows are neglected no longer.

Brow Tech To Go is quite simply a pared down, travel version (but full size) of the famed Smashbox Brow Tech. There is nothing intimidating about this brow pencil, and it’s so easy to use, there is virtually no room for error. And not only that, but I love that it is one piece instead of 3 or 4 (like most brow kits) which makes it a quick and easy step to add to your beauty routine. Just define eyebrows with the angled pencil (glides on easily and naturally), and then brush on the gel to hold in place. Easy as pie! Plus this product lasts and lasts. It’s really just all around awesome…

Pretty, Pretty Peplum

There is just something so pretty and feminine about peplum. And that is exactly why it is one of my favorite silhouettes of the season. Well that, and because it is also extremely flattering on just about any figure. Nicely tailored with just enough flare to hide any imperfections…

Another thing I love about this outfit?  The combo of navy and yellow-always a winner in my book.

Happy hump day!

Oh Deer

I love this tee. It’s just one of those pieces that brings a smile to my face. And while I normally gravitate towards pairing graphic tee’s with denim, I also love the contrast of a casual tee back to something dressier, like a pencil skirt and layered baubles. A whimsical, yet polished look perfect for date night, or a girl’s night out on the town…
