You all know I love surplus vests and jackets, but I’m also a huge fan of surplus pants. And these Traveler Pants from cabi clothing have quickly become a favorite in my wardrobe. Free People Shopping Hack

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Free People. They have the best tops and dresses, both basic and trend. And while their prices can be high, they also have great sales. Take for example the top in today’s post, it was originally over $100, but I scored it for just under $25. So if you love FP like I do, but aren’t into spending over $100 on a top, then I recommend you do your Free People shopping at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and Macy’s. I always keep an eye on the pieces I love and then check prices during the weekend, when department stores typically have their big sales. And another helpful hint? If you have a Macy’s card, Free People is excluded from their 20% off coupons if it is full price, BUT once it breaks price and goes on sale, those 20% off codes work-so you can save even more!

Statement Shoes

I used to be a Footwear Buyer and Designer when I first began my career in the Fashion Industry. So I have always had a fondness for shoes. In fact, often times when I put an outfit together, I plan it around a specific pair of shoes that I feel like wearing. So when I saw these stunners in NYC a couple of weeks ago, I absolutely could not resist them. Not only are they super fun (and totally on trend with the tassels and lace-up styling), but are really comfy to boot. Not into the silver? Well don’t worry. I’m not sure why, but I always feel like it’s more challenging to find cute long sleeved tops then it is to find cute short sleeve or sleeveless tops. So when I find one, I typically tend to snatch it right up. And the long sleeve top in today’s is exactly one of those pieces. Not only is it darling and a great price point, but the white is on trend for the season, and all of the pretty embroidered colors will make it easy to style a number of different ways. It’s pretty much a no-brainer to add to your wardrobe this Spring. And if you’re not a fan of white, don’t worry, it comes in navy too!

Easter Traditions

Every year since I can remember, I have looked forward to getting a new dress for Easter Sunday. When I was growing up, my mom would always take me shopping for something new, which most likely involved gloves and a bonnet. And to this day, it’s a tradition that I still adhere to and love (well maybe minus the gloves and the bonnet!).

And this year, when I started looking for a dress, Chic Wish was the first place I started. Lately, they have become my go-to for pretty dresses, skirts, and oh-so feminine tops. They offer gorgeous pieces that are fantastic quality without breaking the bank. So if you are looking for something pretty and unique, be sure to check them out.

And on a more serious note, if you live in the SLC and are looking for a place to attend an Easter service, or if you are just curious about Jesus and a God who is crazy about YOU (no matter what baggage you THINK you might have), then come, just as YOU are, for what is bound to be an amazing experience at Antioch SLC (and if you aren’t in the SLC, that’s ok-there are Antioch Churches all over the country!). To be 100% real with you guys, the past few months have been proven to be a pretty challenging season in my personal life, and I have found so much grace and solace through Antioch. It’s truly a special place, and I have a feeling Easter is going to be pretty incredible. The service is at 5pm on Sunday at the Falls Event Center at Trolley Square. I will be there and would love to see some of your beautiful faces! So be sure to come and say “hi” if you decide to check it out.

Yesterday I talked a little bit about the importance of having balance between classic and fashion pieces in your wardrobe. But another important closet category that I didn’t mention, is staple pieces. If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, then you know staples are something I talk about a fair amount, i.e. denim jackets, surplus vests, nude pumps, black handbags, dark wash skinny jeans, etc. And so today, I wanted to highlight one of my personal favorite closet staples, and that is a casual long-sleeved black dress.

This closet staple is the perfect blank canvas, is easy (and comfy!) to throw on and go, and can be styled in a plethora of different ways. So if you don’t own a casual long-sleeved black dress, then you are in luck, because I’ve listed my favorites below!

Not all outfits are created equal. There are always some that I love more than others, and this is definitely one of those. Perhaps it’s because this dress reminds me of something that I wore when I auditioned for collegiate music programs back in the day, or perhaps it’s because it incorporates so many of my favorite things (surplus vest, yellow pumps, Panama hat, dress with pockets, etc.) into one look. Whatever the reason, this is just one of those outfits that really feels like “me”, and one I can’t wait to wear again!
