No matter how old you are, I believe there are ways to participate in the trends of the season (with a little tweaking here and there) to make them age appropriate. Take the cropped trend for example. I have been wanting to give this style a try for quite a while, but I’m obviously not going to be running around town showing off my stomach. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this top that is just long to keep me covered, but just short enough to fall into the cropped category. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s off-the-shoulder (which is my absolute favorite trend this season)!

I’d love to know, do you guys like to try out modified versions of different trends?

I have a hard time saying no to anything striped. Particularly striped dresses this time of year. So when I spotted this cute little number at Nordstrom, I knew it would not only be the perfect thing to wear on the 4th, but that it would also be a comfy basic to keep on rotation in my closet this summer. And at only $38, who could resist?

I originally purchased this Free People dress last summer in pink and wore it for my birthday celebration in Sonoma. And I loved it so much and got so much wear out of it, that when they brought it back this season, I bought it in this pretty minty/sage color. And this summer, it is once again one of my favorite things in my closet. It’s also on sale right now, and comes in several other colors. So if you have been thinking about getting this dress, I would highly recommend it! You’ll get so much wear out of it, I promise it will be worth every penny! PLUS it has pockets this year too!

Although be warned. It seems to be running a little shorter this year than last year, so I would recommend sizing up for length.

First of all, I LOVE the splatter print of this dress. There is just something so nostalgic about it to me. I think it’s because it reminds me of a denim jacket I had when I was a kid with neon splatter paint all over it!

So, I’m kind of sort of obsessed with this dress. And you know why? Because it is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I love that I can totally dress it up (like in today’s post), or that I could wear with it with a pair of Chuck Taylors, or some cute wedges and a floppy hat. Another day, another off-the-shoulder number. I just can’t seem to help myself when it comes to this trend! Plus, it’s the perfect neckline to show off my pretty new necklace from French Kande. I’m always on the hunt for good basic tanks during the summer months. But they are surprisingly hard to find. I mean really, is it too much to ask for a solid tank that can be dressed up or dressed down, worn with shorts, skirts, and denim, doesn’t shrink when you wash it, and at a great price point? Apparently so! So when I stumbled on this cute Free People tank, I knew I had to give it a try. And I’m glad I did, because I’m loving it. Plus it’s only $20 and comes in a ton of colors.
