So now that I’ve decided I can wear the off-the-shoulder trend (see this post where I talk about how I didn’t think it would work for my body type), I can’t seem to get enough of it. Ha! Isn’t that the way that it always goes. But I have to say that for me lately, it doesn’t get much better than an off-the-shoulder romper. My husband and I love to bike in the summer and often ride our tandem road bike to dinner or drinks and apps, so I am always looking for cute outfits that are appropriate for bike riding AND date night (which is much harder than you would think!). But I have found that rompers, above all else, always seem to fit the bill. Especially when they cost less than $20!!

Summer Fashion Hacks

There are two things I am really into this summer: destroyed boyfriend shorts with heels, and orange lipstick. And for whatever reason, I seriously can’t seem to get enough either! Maybe it’s because together or alone, they both give the perfect balance of making you look like you tried, even if you really didn’t. And I’m here to tell you, that I’ll take advantage of any fashion hacks that come my way during the summer months!

Stripes

I am really on a stripe kick these days. And this dress from Express is seriously one of my very pieces in my closet. It is cute and comfy and the perfect piece to throw on for a BBQ, bike ride, dinner at home, or for a night on the town. All you have to do is change out your shoes and jewelry and it takes on a completely different personality every time. In fact, I love this dress so much (and it’s on sale for such a great price!) that I just picked it up in two more colors! Summer Chambray

We have had a little break from the heat wave here in the SLC the past few days, which prompted me to break out my favorite lightweight summer chambray shirt. I am a fan of chambray no matter the season, but one of my favorite ways to wear it is back to a full skirt. And it was the perfect choice for the weather this week. Especially because it gave me an excuse to wear my favorite wedges. I seriously can’t get enough of these shoes! T-Shirt Dress

So I was thrilled when I stumbled on this one at the Gap recently. Not only is it super comfy, but it hits in all the right places and is thick enough that it doesn’t show every detail. I have to wear all black when I do store visits for work, so I typically tend to shy away from wearing a lot of black in my personal life. But when I saw this cute dress at Express-I just couldn’t resist. I was initially drawn to it because of the cute one shoulder silhouette, but the black and white tribal print feels so fresh for the season. Plus, the fun ruffle details makes it totally different from anything else I have in my wardrobe. And I have to say, I am really looking forward to dressing this one up AND down for a more casual looks this summer!

Flower Power

I am fairly short, at just 5’3″, but I have long legs and a short torso, so shopping in the petites department doesn’t typically work for me. I normally just buy regular sizing, and if I ever run into a pant inseam that is a little too long, I just take them to my (amazing!) tailor here in the SLC. So when I spotted this cute peplum jacket a couple of months ago at Macy’s, and the XS was too big for me, I was initially at a loss. But when I noticed it also came in petite, I decided to give it shot. And guess what? It worked perfectly! It was a great reminder for me that if I ever have trouble with regular sizing, that petites can be a great alternative. So if you are on the short side like me, don’t forget about the petite department!
