Stormy Weather

While I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, one of the perks of all of the travel is that every couple of months, I get to take a trip back to my home state of Montana. And depending on the time of year and our schedules, sometimes it works out (like it did this past weekend) that J can come and join me and we can sneak in a long weekend in one of our favorite places-which also happens to be where we first met. And while the weather was cold and stormy (which required a little more layering than I’m used to this time of year), we still managed to have a great time with friends, visited all of our favorites places (and discovered some new), and were even able to sneak in a few miles on the bikes in between showers…

Pretty sure I’ve blogged enough about polka dots to give them a deserving spot on my FPF list. Whether it’s a top, a pair of shoes, a bag, a skirt, a dress, or a pair of pants, polka dots are one of those trends that can truly work for everyone. I mean really, how many other patterns are out there with the ability to portray both a youthful and sophisticated feel?

I love lunch dates. Whether it be with friends, my hubby, or my sweet co-workers, there is always something fun about “grabbing” lunch. Particularly during the summer months when it’s the perfect time to nab a seat on a patio somewhere. Don’t you love when you have been eyeing something online and it turns out to be even better in person? Such was the case with this cute peplum top. I had seen it online, but as much as I love it, have a hard time with the whole peplum trend (I am very short-waisted, so they don’t normally do much for me). But when my family was here for Memorial Day weekend, my mom treated my sister-in-law and me to a traditional shopping trip, and I was able to spot it on the rack at Forever21. And I have to say, it’s one of those Forever21 pieces that is quite impressive. While most of the stuff in that store is fairly cheap both in quality and in price, and what I would consider “disposable” fashion (not that it can’t still have a very desirable place in your wardrobe), they do have items (if you have the patience) that are actually quite nice and very well made. And this top is one of them. The fit and fabric are both lovely and in person it looks very expensive. Don’t you just love finding bargains like? Me and my bank account sure do. 😉

My Vest Accessory

When I originally put this outfit together, it was sans vest. But one thing I have learned about blogging is that sometimes, the more layers and jewelry you pile one, the better the photos turn out. Apparently there are some instances where more is more! But I have to say that I think the vest really made this outfit complete, and not just for the sake of blog photos. And so, it should come as no surprise, that I am absolutely loving the vest trend again this summer. So if you haven’t already, denim or surplus, it’s time to add one to your closet!

Ok, ok so even though it’s been really cold and rainy here, don’t mind the background of these photos, because we don’t actually have any snow on the ground here in the SLC (well at least in the valley!). But rather, I was going through my outfit archives and realized that I never shared this little gem of an outfit with you all! And something about the combo of neon purple and rich, cobalt blue made me want to blog about it. I absolutely love mixing two bold colors together-especially these two colors. And tragedies like these are a good reminder to treasure your loved ones and appreciate each and every day to the fullest, because really, we never know what tomorrow might bring. A Birthday In The Bay

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that last week I celebrated another birthday. And because I also had work meetings scheduled in San Francisco, by default I was able to ring in the start of another year in my very favorite city. J flew in to spend a long weekend with me and we had such a fantastic time filled with so many adventures (a surprise sailing trip for my birthday, lots of incredible food, a 70 mile tandem bike ride through the city to the top of Mt. Tam, tons of exploring, and even a little shopping) that I thought I would use today’s post to share my photos from our trip with all of you-through the lens of my iPhone and Instagram, of course!
