Nude

Nude and neutral tones are totally my jam this season.  And this blazer?  It is so cute with the peplum back.  I seriously can’t say enough good things about it. Because if there is one thing I really love, it’s a great fitting, unique jacket with a price tag that doesn’t break the bank (it also comes in black and is only $51!).DSC_3672 DSC_3673 DSC_3709 DSC_3675 DSC_3682 DSC_3710 DSC_3698 DSC_3754 DSC_3747 DSC_3733 DSC_3762Blazer: Lookbook Store c/o (also comes in black!) | Sequin Top: JCrew (on sale!) | Skinnies: AG Farrah | Sunnies: Karen Walker c/o Ditto (try them for one month free with code: ALLDOLLEDUPBLOG at checkout!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Pumps: Jeffrey Campbell (sold out), almost identical, also love these

Creature Comforts

I was just telling a girlfriend of mine last night that when I started blogging, it made me realize what a creature of habit I am.  I tend to gravitate towards the same types of items and the same kinds of outfits.  So being a blogger has been a great way to force myself out of my comfort zone and try new things.  And today’s look is a great example of that.  A couple of years ago, I never would have tried an outfit like this.  And while it still wouldn’t be my go-to (like yesterday’s outfit!), I love pushing myself to try new trends and new looks.  Afterall, that’s what makes fashion fun and exciting, right?

The “It” Jacket

I don’t know about you guys, but every once in a while I stumble upon a piece that I want to own in every color possible.  And this jacket is one of those pieces. I have owned it in the army green color for the past 2 years and I have worn it so much (and received more compliments on it than I can count!), that it has become a tried and true favorite in my wardrobe.  So when I found it came it came in a washed black color, I knew it would be a good investment.  Plus, it’s under $55.  So if you are looking for the perfect jacket (with a little edge) that won’t break the bank, trust me.  This is the one.

Skirting the Issue

If you have been following my blog for a while, then you might remember that this past summer, I made a promise to push myself out of my comfort zone and wear more dresses.  While it was difficult at first, I was so glad I did it and really felt like it pushed me to think outside of the box.

So, I have been trying the same thing this winter.  But because of the colder weather, I have found it to be a little more challenging.  That is why I have loved this skirt so much.  Not only is it a beautiful, thick, flannel material, but it has a nice lining, and is the perfect length for the winter months.  So it’s been an ideal piece for me to style when I’m making an effort to wear something other than just jeans or leggings (although it looks great with leggings too! ha!)!

Mad for Plaid

To me, one of the best parts of Fall is all of the plaid I get to wear!  Ha!  And while I tend to gravitate towards plaid shirts, I am kind of obsessed with plaid dresses this season.  Not only does it feel like a fresh silhouette, but they are perfect now, and will also work later paired with leggings and boots when the snow starts to fly.

Dress: Forever21, also love this, and this | Necklace: House of Harlow (on sale!) | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Booties: Vince Camuto (old), just bought these (my new FAVES!)

And please don’t mind my mess hair in these photos-I swear it isn’t bed head!  It was super windy when we were shooting, so my hair and dress were everywhere! lol  Happy Friday, friends!

Blank Slate

I love a good off-the-shoulder dress.  And the pretty color of this one sold me almost immediately.  Plus, I’m always a big fan of pieces that can be styled a plethora of different ways.  And this dress is just that, the perfect blank slate.

Work It

I don’t often post many wear-to-work inspired ideas on the blog.  You guys always seem to respond really well to my more casual and laid back looks, so that is what I tend to stick with sharing.  But because dressing for work is such an important part of our wardrobes, I want to start infusing a few more of these posts into the mix.

That said, when I am looking for things to wear to work, I like to try and invest in classic and timeless pieces that I can style a lot of different ways.  I also travel a ton for my job, so I also tend to gravitate towards fabrics that pack well and wear well on an airplane or in a car.  And of course for me, even though I have to dress “business casual” the majority of the time, comfort still plays an important role in my workday wardrobe choices.

So if you are looking to improve or expand upon your current 9-5 wardrobe, but aren’t sure where to start, two staples that I recommend for every working girl?  A go-to black dress, and a classic camel coat.

Summer Dresses

I am and always have been a jeans and t-shirt kind of a girl.  But last summer, I made an effort to start wearing more dresses.  Especially during the summer months.  And you know what?  It is definitely something that has stuck.  I find myself wearing more and more dresses these days without even making a conscious effort to do so.  And this easy, breezy swing dress from Express is at the top of my list.  I first found the long sleeve version this spring (which you can see how I styled it here), and then found it in sleeveless stripes, and now in this gorgeous cobalt blue.  It is definitely a go-to in my wardrobe and as I head out on vacation today, you can guarantee it’s packed neatly in my suitcase!
