Date Night Casual

I love a good date night casual look. And there is no easier way to accomplish this kind of look than with a pair of destroyed skinnies, fun pumps, and a bold lip. And even though my top is just a plain black shirt, the cut out shoulders give it a slightly edgy feel, while allowing me to still feel super comfy. Wine Not?

J and I were in Sonoma this past weekend doing a little biking and wine tasting, and even though the temps were unusually hot, the leaves were changing colors and Fall was definitely in the air. So I of course, took full advantage of the opportunity and packed some cute plaid and my favorite booties. And I have to tell you guys, wearing dresses with booties is my very favorite kind of outfit right now. Believe it or not, sometimes I have no idea what to wear. Honestly, I think we all have those days where we just stand in our closets completely blank, not really knowing where to start. So when I find myself having one of those moments, I’ve found that sometimes the best solution is to go back to basics and go with what I “know”. Derby Style

Even though I was born and raised out west, I did live in the south for a few years when I pursued a country music career and attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. And let me just say, my years in the Music City were some of the best of my life. There is just something about the South that is so near and dear to me. What can I say? I’m a country girl at heart. And because I especially love all of the incredible traditions that come from the South, J and I decided to throw a Derby party this year. I have always wanted to host one, but haven’t had the chance since I moved to Utah. But this year, it was the perfect excuse to get extra dressed up, enjoy the gorgeous weather, drink cocktails in the afternoon, and celebrate my birthday (a few days early) with all of our favorite people! It was a great time had by all, and served as the perfect reminder to wear big, floppy hats more often!
