You might have guessed pink, but yellow is actually my very favorite color. And one of my favorite ways to wear it as of late is in a neon hue back to black with a pop of leopard. And while I believe it’s perfectly acceptable to wear neon and bright colors all year round (and do!) during the colder months, it is good to ground them with darker colors making your brights feel more appropriate for the season…

The thought didn’t cross my mind when I purchased this vest a couple of months ago, but when I was editing these photos, it dawned on me that it looks an awfully lot like a fishing vest. Which in all honesty, makes me like it even that much more-I am a Montana girl after all! And while I am obviously loving the look of vests this season, one thing I am loving even more is the combination of a bold pink back to a neutral army green and leopard. I love shoes-and I am talking love. And while many might guess that my love affair with footwear started when I began my career as a Footwear Buyer and Developer for Sundance Catalog, I would actually be more inclined to say that it began when I was a little tiny girl and insisted that if I had to wear saddle shoes, then they had to be the pink and white ones and not the black and white version that my mom wanted to buy me for school. And much like my saddle shoes of old, when I saw these Report Signature shoes in a magazine a few weeks ago, I knew I had to track them down. And boy am I glad that I did. Because not only are they chic and amazingly comfortable (not to mention versatile), but they are the perfect hybrid between a pump and bootie-which really couldn’t be any more perfect for the season…

I am in Montana this week for work braving the cold. And while I always love coming back to my home state, sometimes I forget how soft I’ve become between living in Tennessee and Utah over the last few years. Winter is definitely no joke up here in the big sky state!! Brrrrrrrr….

Dream Coat

We had our first snow here in the SLC this weekend. It was a beautiful day on Saturday at almost 70 degrees, but the wind was whipping through the valley all day which usually signals an impending storm front. So without even having to check the weather, I knew come Sunday morning, the chance of waking up to snow was pretty good. And while I must say I have mixed feelings about it, one thing I was most definitely excited about was getting out my winter coats. And speaking of coats, if there is one trend that every gal should jump on this season, it’s adding a colorful jacket or coat to your winter wardrobe.

In honor of Halloween, today’s outfit post is brought to you by the colors orange and black. And while it might seem like a taboo combo, or at the very least a little tough to wrangle, I promise you can wear black and orange together without looking like you are dressing up for Halloween-or in support of your favorite team. The best bet? Stay away from a true orange. Instead, opt for shades of mandarin (like my outfit below), corals, or neon. All look fantastic with black and can be worn together anytime of the year…

Camo Pants

As I’ve mentioned before in a few posts, I am all over the camo trend right now. And when I spotted these pants at the Gap, I knew I had to have them for the Fall season. But apparently so did plenty of other people, because they sold out in my size almost immediately (they also sold out when they had a similar version in Spring). So like the patient fashionista that I am, I waited. And guess what? I ended up finding them in my size on the clearance rack just a couple of weeks ago for a steal of a price. Talk about a stroke of good luck. Don’t you just love happy endings like that?

Even though summer has come and gone, my love for graphic tees has yet to falter. They are so easy to style and go with such a multitude of different looks. And while jeans are the obvious choice, I love the unexpected of mixing a tee back to a sparkly skirt, a casual jacket, and booties. It’s the perfect fall ensemble if you are looking to change things up a bit from the norm (while still keeping it somewhat casual)…
