Black and Tan

Two of my favorite colors to mix together are black and tan. Wearing all black can tend to sku a little dressy, so adding in a great tan or cognac boot, or accessory, is a great way to make the ensemble a little more casual.

And can we talk about this jacket for minute? It is one of my very favorite new additions to my wardrobe this season. Not only does it look great with dresses, but it’s also a cute piece to wear with jeans, belted shut. And can you believe it’s under $30?? Even better! Details below…

Jumper

I LOVE a good romper, but it took me a little longer to get hop on the jumpsuit bandwagon. But when I found this great navy version recently, I was sold! So while jumpsuits might seem a little intimidating at first, I definitely recommend at least trying one on. Not only are they chic, but they are amazingly comfy and easy to wear and style. In fact, I can’t wait to wear this one with a leather jacket and pumps when the temps cool down a bit.

Booties

I know I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but I cannot get enough of long-sleeve dresses and booties this season. It is such an easy and comfy combo, but always leaves me feeling polished and put together. Boots With The Fringe

Casual Friday

I love a good striped tee. Particularly when they are super soft and a little longer in the back than in the front. And my white jeans? Still going strong this fall season. In fact, I love this look for Fall so much, that this type of uniform will definitely be on repeat. I will just have to change out my heels for booties when the temps start to drop!

On a serious note, I also wanted to just take a minute and acknowledge today, September 11th. I still remember so vividly where I was and exactly what I was doing on this day 14 years ago. I remember watching towers fall while my roommates and I cried and clung to each other in our tiny little dorm room. I remember frantically trying to call friends who lived in in NYC to make sure they were ok. I remember how drastically things changed in those moments and how in the blink of an eye, things would never be the same. But most importantly, I remember those who lost their lives, the heroes, the first responders, the children who have grown up without with fathers and mothers. Every soul lost that day was so precious and taken from us much too soon. So even though life marches on, today will be a day full of reflection for me, as I know it will be for many others across this great country and around the world.

Hold tight to your loved ones, and never, ever forget.

It doesn’t matter the season, or what’s on trend for the year. Black and white is always one of my very favorite combinations. Especially when paired with a bright lip for a little pop of color. Not only is it a timeless combo, but a look everyone can wear.

Burgundy

When it comes to shopping, I am not very good at purchasing items in advance for an upcoming season. Instead, I am more of a buy now, wear now kind of girl. So this time of year gets to be a little tricky for me. While August is one of my favorite times to shop because of all of the amazing deals, summer is also running short on time, so I want to be careful and not purchase things that I am going to have to put away in a few weeks. So instead, I look for transitional items to add to my wardrobe that I can wear now and wear later. And this dress is a great example. I had been eyeing it in a bright pink color for quite sometime, but when it recently went on sale, I ultimately decided to buy it in burgundy because not only can I wear it now, but it will look great layered with leopard, and booties, and jackets and sweaters!

I love a good striped dress. And with the slightly cooler weather here in the SLC that has been layering itself in with our typically hot temps, I have found that some evenings, it’s nice to have a light coat with me as an option. I have to wear all black when I do store visits for work, so I typically tend to shy away from wearing a lot of black in my personal life. But when I saw this cute dress at Express-I just couldn’t resist. I was initially drawn to it because of the cute one shoulder silhouette, but the black and white tribal print feels so fresh for the season. Plus, the fun ruffle details makes it totally different from anything else I have in my wardrobe.
