I love a good vest. And when I saw this cute number on one of my favorite bloggers, I knew it would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe. But now that this piece is hanging in my closet, what I especially love about it is how cozy it is. It’s more like a giant blanket scarf/wrap and is the perfect piece for layering up for a little added extra warmth. When the temp drops, I love bundling up in layers. And I find that mixing a great long sleeve top, furry vest, and cute jacket is always a cute and cozy winning combo. This time of year, fashion pieces that also serve a purpose, are an imperative part of any wardrobe if you want to stay warm and look good doing it!

The Denim Jacket

Last week I wrote a post about wardrobe staples. And today, I wanted to talk specifically about one of the items that I had on my list. And that, my friends, is a denim jacket. I wear mine constantly (which y’all have probably noticed on the blog and on my Instagram). It’s a great layering piece, and obviously a great jacket for milder temps. And not only that, but it can be worn with dresses, pants, or skirts-dressed up or dressed down. I am telling you ladies, a denim jacket is season-less, timeless, and it’s a fairly inexpensive investment (which makes it an easy addition to any closet)! Layers

One of my favorite things about dressing for Fall is layering. I love putting multiple pieces together to achieve different looks and maximize the pieces in my wardrobe. And because I am such a fan of the layered look, I am definitely finding myself gravitating towards this season’s mixed media pieces that give you the layered look without having to actually layer. Not only do they help simplify getting dressed in the morning, but they are a great option to get the layered look without all the bulk!

Polka Dots

There was a period in time when I went a little overkill on the whole polka dot thing, so I made a conscious effort to cut back. And in doing so, it’s been quite a while since I posted a polka dot look on the blog. So after a nice little hiatus, I finally feel like now is the appropriate time to bring polka dots back to All Dolled Up! Not to mention that it has been unseasonably warm here in Utah this week, and this sweater is the perfect transitional piece that feels fitting for a winter that is beginning to feel an awful lot like spring…

Neutral Layers

Sometimes dressing to go out in the evening can be a bit tricky this time of year. The days are warm enough to get away with tanks and tees, but the evenings cool down just enough to ensure that some sort of jacket or layer is necessary. And while I love blazers and cardigans (of course), it gets a little boring to always fall back on one of those options. So what else is there?

In the fall, my go to layering piece is usually a black leather jacket. I don’t have a super “girly” style, so I love the idea of pairing a rough-and-tumble piece back to something a little more sweet. But alas, my black leather jackets feel a little heavy for this time of year, which got me thinking. What about a neutral colored leather jacket? Something a little lighter to fit the season?

Well thank goodness for my job! I was at a meeting in one of my stores, and just happened to see it-a neutral colored, shrunken lamb leather jacket. And I knew on the spot it was the perfect piece to add to my collection to give me a fresh new layering option for cool nights out on the town. And even more than that, it’s a jacket that will also be perfect when summer fades to fall…

Black is always in, but neutrals are a great way to change things up and an excellent staple to pair back to pretty much anything, including red pants and leopard shoes! 🙂
