I love stripes-any time of the year and for any occasion. And I especially love this JCrew striped mini. I love the vibrant colors mixed with a splash of gold. It feels festive and fun, while still being super casual (if you want it to be). I am even loving mixing metals and wearing both silver and gold with this particular piece. And seriously, how gorgeous is the balcony off our master suite at the Sea House? The home where we are spending our time in SJDS is beyond gorgeous in every way. I’m in love…

I always get a little reflective and perhaps even pensive when each year ends and a new one begins. It is a time of excitement and the promise of a new beginning and fresh start, but the turning of that page always makes me a little sad too. The older I get, the faster and faster time seems to go. Cliche, I know, but true none-the-less.

Looking back at 2013, this blog has really been such a highlight of my year. And so, I wanted to take today’s post to THANK ALL OF YOU for being with me every step of the way. Your support, your engagement, your ideas, your encouragement, your love-it has all meant the world to me. And I sincerely hope you will continue along this journey with me into 2014 I could not do what I do every day without each and every single one of you. So truly, from the bottom of my hear, THANK YOU.

It is one of my all-time favorite songs and she, one of my all-time favorite artists. And I’d like to think that perhaps it’s my love for classic music that drew me to this sweater, and not just a weakness for happy sweaters…

Shifting

So I’ve found that the best way to extend the life of my favorite dresses into the Fall season is with a little layering. And I am absolutely loving the look of a casual chambray shirt back to a more dressed up shift dress. For me, it’s the perfect alternative to a basic cardigan…

I love the golden color of this skirt, the beautiful pleated material, and the hi-low cut. It is the embodiment of everything I love in a skirt. And even better than that, it’s just one of those pieces that every time I wear it, I am constantly being stopped and asked about it-which of course makes me feel kind of glamorous. Don’t you just love pieces that make you feel good like that? To me that is the whole point of fashion. A tool for us to use to express ourselves and build our confidence!
