Black and White

I have to wear all black when I do store visits for work, so I typically tend to shy away from wearing a lot of black in my personal life.  But when I saw this cute dress at Express-I just couldn’t resist.  I was initially drawn to it because of the cute one shoulder silhouette, but the black and white tribal print feels so fresh for the season.  Plus, the fun ruffle details makes it totally different from anything else I have in my wardrobe.  And I have to say, I am really looking forward to dressing this one up AND down for a more casual looks this summer!

Stepping Out

I tend to gravitate towards the same kinds of items: button-downs, t-shirts and cardis, black leather jackets and ripped jeans-if you follow along with my blog, then you’ve probably noticed! lol  But one of the best parts of having a blog is that it forces me to take a look at my closet and make smart decisions when adding to my wardrobe.  So when I saw this shirt at Zara when I was in Seattle for business meetings last week, I knew it would be a great investment.  Not only is a silhouette that I don’t own anything similar to, but it is also a print that is completely different from anything else I own (and perfect for Spring, of course!)!  So my advice to you guys today?  Even though it is easy to buy the same kinds of things that we like to gravitate towards, it is important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and add unique pieces to your closet that you will keep for years to come!

Jean Jacket

Whether you call it a denim jacket or a jean jacket, if you don’t own one, then you should! Denim jackets are a key item for Spring, and a great investment piece that will last you for seasons to come. And while they are a great layering piece while we wait for the temps to warm up, they are also really cute. In fact, my favorite way of styling them as of late is back to flirty dresses and skirts-allowing me to get into my summer wardrobe a little earlier than usual.  And if you are really feeling the denim jacket this season (like I am), then I would be sure to venture out and purchase one in both a dark wash (see yesterday’s post), and also in a light wash…

Also, I should note that this was the outfit I ended up wearing on Easter.  It was such a beautiful day and this was the perfect outfit for church, running errands, and hosting friends for Easter dinner.

Hope you are all having a fantastic week!

Down On the Farm

Our weather has been a little crazy the past few days (nice one minute, then raining, or snowing the next!), so between that, and our busy schedules, it’s been a little hard to coordinate for blog photos this week. So yesterday after work, J and I decided to meet at a beautiful historic farm pretty close to our house.  And even though it was freezing cold while we were shooting, I loved the location and can’t wait to shoot more photos there-even if we did get chased down by some whopping big snow geese!

And do you know what else I am loving? The simplicity of today’s outfit.  Black and white is all the rage this season, and I love it paired back to simple chambray, nude pumps, and a bold lip.  Another one of those looks that is so easy to put together, but makes you looked you really put some effort in!

Happy Hump Day!!!

Bonjour!

I love a good graphic tee.  And since I missed out on the Kiss tee that JCrew launched this fall, I pounced on the Hello tee as soon as I saw it in store.  And boy am I glad that I did.  It’s already made a plethora of appearances in my daily wardrobe, including on NYE when I wore it with a sequin jacket, ripped jeans, and sparkly pumps.  I mean what better way to say hello to the new year than on your t-shirt? And because a t-shirt and ripped jeans back to dressed up accessories is still going to be a go-to look for me in 2014, I can’t wait to come up with more ways to style this tee. But today’s look is probably my favorite to date-ultra laid back and causal with a splash of statement jewelry and a flash of silver accessories…

I don’t know about you all, but yesterday was painful.  I was so not ready for vacation to be over and to be back at work.  But the good news is, we are heading to Denver this weekend.  So I am definitely looking forward to a road trip with my sweet family and a little time spent in the Mile High City!

Hope your week is off to a far less painful start than mine! 😉
