Happy Monday, friends! Hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was filled with home renovation projects, friends, and lots and lots of sunshine and biking. BUT despite the fantastic weather, there was definitely still a chill in the air. And this time of year, when temps are still in that in-between phase, I find that a denim jacket is the perfect weight to layer on over your outfit to keep you warm and stylish. And I am loving this pale blue, white washed version from Nordstrom. It’s a nice change-up from tried and true blue and gives me different options for styling than my go-to JCrew denim jacket. Plus, something about the pale color just feels extra fresh for Spring…

I love a good floral dress-especially if it’s long-sleeved! And Lulu’s is always a favorite place to find affordable dresses for any occasion. So when I was on the hunt for the perfect Easter dress, their website was the first place I looked! And while I am not sure if this is what I will wear to celebrate Easter this weekend, I do know that it is a piece that is going to get a lot of wear in my closet this Spring!

White Out

I have been really into neutrals lately. But perhaps equally as high on my radar is anything white. And based on what’s going on out in the market, I can tell I’m not alone! White is one of the hottest trends of the season. And with warmer temps upon us, I am ready to put all things white on heavy rotation in my closet! I am loving any top I can get my hands on with details on the shoulders this season. From embroidery (see this post), to cut outs, to sequins-I am all in. And I am especially a fan of this sweater since it is such a lovely shade of my favorite color-yellow! Plus, I am loving it back to a more casual boyfriend jean and a super playful mule pump. I love olive green-particularly with leopard and gold jewelry. It is a combo that I often find myself reaching for-whether in the summer or the winter. And what do you know? My favorite denim jacket is making yet another appearance on the blog! Hopefully you guys aren’t too sick of it yet. Ha! Like I always say, a denim jacket is an important investment piece to add to your wardrobe. Not only are they versatile, but they go with just about anything, and those are the smartest pieces you can add to your closet!

Booties

Today, I want to talk about booties. They are everywhere this season and I am absolutely in love with the trend. BUT I’ll be honest, I find booties very difficult to wear. I workout and bike and ski a lot, so I don’t have super skinny legs. I’m also short (not quite 5’4″), so I find that most booties can tend to make me look thick in the legs and even shorter than I already am! And that is definitely not look I’m going for! Ha! I’ve tried on countless pairs and always love them on the rack and on other people, but seldom like them on myself. However, I have finally found the trick to the perfect bootie for all you gals out there who are struggling with this trend like me. And the secret, my friends? Booties that dip down in the front, or that are a little closer to a pump than a bootie (like the pair in today’s post-a shootie, if you will). Seriously, I can’t tell you what a difference a little dip in the front will make for you and the length it will give you back in your legs. So if you have been feeling anything like me when it comes to booties-don’t give up! I’ve linked up some of my favorite, and (more importantly) flattering booties below!

Mellow Yellow

As promised, I wanted to show you all my fave JCrew dress without the vest (see the post of it with the vest here), for a little more dressed up version of this look. Also, it should be noted that I am really loving neon yellow right now. In fact, it’s kind of to the point where I feel like I just might need an intervention. To me, neon yellow is just like sunshine, only kicked up a notch. But I want to know what you guys think! Are you loving this color as much as I am this summer? And which look do you prefer? Clearly I am obsessed with neon yellow right now. It is such a bright and happy color and just oozes summer time to me. So when I saw this neon yellow lace dress at JCrew, I knew it was the perfect thing to add to my closet. And because I wanted to be able to wear it not just on special occasions, but on casual ones too, pairing it back to an uber cool surplus vest seemed like just the ticket to tone it down a notch. And if you’re a regular follower of this blog, then you know I love a good completer piece. I have to tell you guys, my travel schedule has been so crazy, between vacation, work, and a bike race this weekend for the hubs, I woke up in 5 (5!!!) different town last week.
