Up On The Roof

I love anything that sparkles.  Especially if it adds an element of fun to an otherwise classic piece.  So when I saw this jacket at Express while I was in SF last wee, I knew it was a perfect addition to my closet.  I wear denim jackets all the time (especially this time of year), and I love that I now have a bit of a dressier option in my closet.  I can tell this jacket is going to be on heavy repeat in my closet this year!

Fall Florals

I don’t know what it is, but I am feeling so drawn to florals this Fall.  Mixing them into my wardrobe has felt so fresh and different to me this season-something that I love!  Plus, I can’t complain about getting to wear some of my favorite pieces for just a little bit longer this year!

Golden Hour

This past weekend, J and I had a little staycation up in Park City.  And even though it was officially the last weekend of summer, the Fall season has already crept into the mountains.  The leaves are starting to change colors and it was definitely jacket weather.  But since I’m not ready to give up dresses quite yet, I am extending their seasonality by pairing them back to denim and leather jackets.  And I’ve got to say, summer to fall transitional fashions are some favorite looks to put together!

Dressy

I have made a pledge this year to wear more dresses.  I’m not quite sure why, but I naturally tend to gravitate towards jeans, heels, and cute tops.  But it gets so hot in the SLC during the summer months, that dresses are really a must.  PLUS they are so cute and comfy and fun and I am really loving all of the vibrant prints and colors that I am seeing available in stores this season.  Case and point?  The dress in today’s post.  Not only does the tribal print of this dress lend itself well back to denim, but because it showcases so many different colors, it will be an easy piece to style multiple ways this summer.  And in my book, versatile pieces like this are the key to expanding your wardrobe without spending a lot of money!

P.S.  If you live in the SLC and love coffee, be sure to stop by the new Publik Coffee.  We stopped in to check it out over Memorial Day weekend and fell in love!  It’s one of the cooler places I’ve been in the SLC.  In fact, it’s actually where we shot these photos. And not only is their coffee and ambiance amazing, but they have an entire menu dedicated solely to different kinds of toast.  Brilliant!

Nickel Creek

If you know me personally, then you know I LOVE music.  And if you don’t, well now you know.  I also have a pretty broad taste in music, thanks to my dad’s influence growing up and studying and pursuing music in college.  And while my love for music is broad, there are a handful of bands/musicians that are especially near and dear to my heart.  And one of those such bands is Nickel Creek.  I have been a huge fan of theirs since the late ’90’s when I first fell in love with country and bluegrass.  And when they broke up in 2007 before I had a chance to see them live, I was pretty devastated.  So when they announced they were getting back together this year and starting to tour in May-I knew I absolutely had to see them.  And as luck would have it, the 3rd stop on their Dotted Line tour just happened to be in Salt Lake City.  So J and I scored amazing 3rd row tickets and have been counting down the days to the show.  And I have got to tell you, the musical talent that this band possesses is truly mind-blowing.  It was an absolutely incredible show and I can’t stop smiling today thinking of the magic we saw last night up on that stage.  So if you love bluegrass or appreciate musical talent, then check and see if Nickel Creek is coming to your town.  And if they are, GO SEE THEM!  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Now on to today’s outfit, which is actually what I wore to the show last night.  Casual, but cool with a fun pop of color.  When I go to a concert or show I always like to wear a cute tank/cami with a jacket so that I can take the jacket off if I get warm, or leave it on if the venue is cool.  In my book, it’s always good to be prepared for either possibility.  I am also a high heel kind of girl, but always make sure to wear my comfy heels so that my feet can be sure to last through a night of dancing…

Light and Airy

I love a good structured peplum top. I am also particularly being drawn towards all things white this season.  So this top has (obviously) been on frequent rotation in my closet as of late.  I am also finding myself gravitating towards anything nude as far as footwear is concerned.  And how could I forget light wash denim for both jackets and jeans?  I guess it’s safe to say this warmer weather has me wanting to lighten things up a bit…

Jean Jacket

Whether you call it a denim jacket or a jean jacket, if you don’t own one, then you should! Denim jackets are a key item for Spring, and a great investment piece that will last you for seasons to come. And while they are a great layering piece while we wait for the temps to warm up, they are also really cute. In fact, my favorite way of styling them as of late is back to flirty dresses and skirts-allowing me to get into my summer wardrobe a little earlier than usual.  And if you are really feeling the denim jacket this season (like I am), then I would be sure to venture out and purchase one in both a dark wash (see yesterday’s post), and also in a light wash…

Tulle Cool For School

Ahhh tulle, how I love you so.  So fun, so whimsical, and the perfect fabrication to make any girl feel like a princess.  And let me tell you ladies, tulle isn’t just for ballerinas anymore.  So if you are looking for something different (and super fun!) to add to your wardrobe this spring, then a tulle skirt is the ticket.  You can wear them back to anything from a t-shirt, to a blouse, to a button down, to a jean-jacket.  Rest assured, you will be pleasantly surprised at the plethora of things you will able to style your tulle skirt with.  But perhaps more importantly, how fabulous it will make you feel…

Lady In Red

First of all…CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the Touchstone Crystal giveaway: Sarah Langlois , and Abby Peterson!!  Please email me at: abby_doll@hotmail.com so we can work out the details.  SO excited for you girls!

And second, I have to say I am grateful to even be getting a blog up today.  I had big regional meetings last week at work-which meant a lot of late nights and early mornings-definitely no time for blog photos.  And then over the weekend (when I had planned to catch up), I ended up with a terribly sick hubby AND the SLC had a whirlwind of crazy, stormy weather, including SNOW!  Let’s just say, the odds were not in my favor.  But fortunately, we were able to sneak in one quick outfit right as the sun went down last night.  And I have to say, I am loving my pretty red lace dress paired back to a deconstructed denim jacket (with a hoodie no less).  You know me, I always love an unexpected mix of casual and dressy…

Mustard + Leopard

I LOVE the combination of leopard and mustard yellow.  It is hands down one of my very favorites ever. And while I would normally pair this combo back to black, I am loving the added element that a dark wash denim brings to this look…
