Candy Stripes

Color tends to be a pretty consistent trend in my summer wardrobe. And this fun, striped skirt from JCrew is no exception. And while I initially gravitated towards styling it back to heels and vibrant oranges, I am also looking forward to trying it with shades purples, or a favorite chambray shirt and pair of flats. Don’t you just love pieces that provide so much versatility in your wardrobe? I know I sure do!

She’s Gone Country

I grew up in Montana, but ran off to college in Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University and chase the bright lights and shiny stars of a country music career. And through hard work and determination, I was lucky enough to land a regular singing gig at a bar downtown on the most coveted nights of the week. Oh how I loved that chapter in my life. And while I obviously made the decision somewhere along the line to walk away from it all and pursue a more “regular” life, I will always cherish my years in the Music city and Nashville will always hold an incredibly special place in my heart.

So last summer when a friend told J and me that the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville partners with the Sundance Resort in Utah every year to showcase the best songwriter’s from Nashville at Robert Redford’s beloved (and breathtakingly beautiful) resort, I knew I was all in. And so this year, when it fell over our anniversary weekend, I knew it was the perfect way to kick off our celebration. And a perfect evening it was…

And not only was it a perfect night of music in the mountains, it was also the perfect occasion to wear my favorite maxi dress.  I am so in love with the vibrant colors and soft fabric of this maxi-I just can’t get enough.  And while my hubby (along with most men) is not typically a fan of maxi dresses, he actually doesn’t mind this one.  Lucky for him, because he’ll probably be seeing a lot of it this summer! 🙂

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Now You See Me…

Confession: I LOVE camo. Always have, always will. In fact, my father-in-law even got me my very own snow camo gators for Christmas one year because I thought snow camo was especially pretty. So when camo is in, I am always especially quick to jump on the trend. And so of course, given it’s popularity this season, I knew that a camo vest would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe for the summer season…

Neon+Surplus

I love pairing the unexpected together. And while neon plus army surplus might not be something you would automatically think to pair up, together they just might be one of my new favorite combos of the summer. Plus, if you follow this blog, then you know I can’t get enough of this vest and LOVE coming up with new ways to style it (see it here, and here)…

Stormy Weather

While I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, one of the perks of all of the travel is that every couple of months, I get to take a trip back to my home state of Montana. And depending on the time of year and our schedules, sometimes it works out (like it did this past weekend) that J can come and join me and we can sneak in a long weekend in one of our favorite places-which also happens to be where we first met. And while the weather was cold and stormy (which required a little more layering than I’m used to this time of year), we still managed to have a great time with friends, visited all of our favorites places (and discovered some new), and were even able to sneak in a few miles on the bikes in between showers…

Tie One On

I think it’s safe to say that this look is going to be a staple for me this summer. Since chambray shirts are always on constant rotation in my closet, it’s no wonder that I am loving the new sleeveless version hitting stores right now. And I’m particularly loving them when tied and worn over pretty summer dresses. A look that’s polished and sweet-but easy as one, two, three…

Stand Out

Every gal needs a statement pair (or two) of shoes in her closet. And if bags are your thing (like they happen to be mine), then a statement bag is a great investment piece as well. Because on those days when you don’t feel like putting much in effort, accessories are the best (not to mention easiest) way to dress up an otherwise simple outfit…

If you are shopping for your first pair of statement shoes, or looking to add another pair to your collection, I highly recommend a good leopard print shoe.  While they are still the perfect stand out piece in an outfit, leopard also works as a neutral and goes back to just about anything!

Date Night

I love a good date night outfit. And while I normally use date night as an excuse to wear a cute dress or skirt, sometimes you just can’t beat a good pair of jeans and a sparkly top. Especially when you add some fun accessories…

A Birthday In The Bay

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that last week I celebrated another birthday. And because I also had work meetings scheduled in San Francisco, by default I was able to ring in the start of another year in my very favorite city. J flew in to spend a long weekend with me and we had such a fantastic time filled with so many adventures (a surprise sailing trip for my birthday, lots of incredible food, a 70 mile tandem bike ride through the city to the top of Mt. Tam, tons of exploring, and even a little shopping) that I thought I would use today’s post to share my photos from our trip with all of you-through the lens of my iPhone and Instagram, of course!

Back At It

Well hello there, my lovely readers! After a brief little blogging hiatus, I am back! And can I just say that last week was an absolutely crazy (and wonderful) one for me? Between a work trip to San Francisco for our Vendor Summit, a birthday celebration, and a nice long weekend spent in my favorite city by the bay (packed full of my favorite activities), I think my head is still spinning!! So since I’m slowly, but surely, getting back into the swing of things, I thought today was the perfect opportunity to keep it short and sweet and share with you one of my favorite color combinations ever-pink and navy.

Can you believe that I stumbled upon these darling wedges at JCP of all places?  I had actually seen them in a magazine and wanted to check them out in person since I was a little unsure about buying a pair of shoes from Penny’s.  And while I have to say that I wasn’t expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised by just how cute they are in person, the quality, and the amazing price (under $40!!).  They are definitely going to be a staple in my wardrobe this summer.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
