Fall Sweater

One of my favorite things about living in Utah is the Fall season. Typically the weather is balmy and the colors in the mountains are off the hook. But this year, we got our first snow a little earlier than usual, which made for some especially gorgeous scenery this weekend, and a drastic drop in temperature, leaving me scrambling to pull out some warmer Fall layers. Thank goodness I had recently picked up this sweater from Nordstrom. And I have to say, if you are going to buy one thing for your closet this season, it should be this sweater. Not only is it less than $40, but it comes in a ton of colors and is the perfect staple to add to your wardrobe.

Fall Vibes

While I hate to see summer go, I do love me some Fall fashion! And even though it’s still pretty hot here in Salt Lake, I am already starting to gravitate towards Fall color combinations, like today’s rust, leopard, and black look. And if you don’t have this top in your life yet (it also comes in a dress version!), then you need it ASAP. It comes in a bunch of colors and is less than $30. It’s seriously the best.

I love a good turtleneck. But I also love a good cowl neck. And this cute and cozy waffle knit cowl from Free People has been a go-to for me all season. My favorite pieces are those that answer the inevitable frustration of looking in your closet and feeling like you have nothing to wear, and this top does that flawlessly. Fringed

My motto this season? Fringe, fringe, and MORE fringe! I am loving everything from footwear, to bags, to apparel. And while I think every gal should own a couple of fringe pieces in her closet this Fall (even just one is ok!), this is a great example of trend that may or may not still be around next season. So while it’s fun for right now in 2015, my advice is to be smart about your fringe purchases and not invest too much $ wise. Case and point are the shoes in today’s post. I have been eyeing for them for what seems like forever, but I just didn’t want to commit to the price tag. So when they finally went on major sale, I pounced. And you know what? I know I’ll have fun wearing them, but that I definitely won’t feel badly about buying them if fringe isn’t all the rage next season.

There is a funny saying floating around Instagram that says: “Nothing haunts us like the things we didn’t buy”. And every time I see it, I have a good chuckle, because sometimes it isn’t that far from the truth! Such was the case for the sweater in today’s post. I tried it on at JCrew last summer and decided not to buy it (even though I loved it). And I have always regretted not purchasing it. So when I saw that JCrew Factory released an almost identical version a few weeks ago-I pounced! And I am SO glad that I did. I can’t stop wearing hats this Fall. They might just be my favorite trend. And swingy, comfy sweaters? Another closet staple. So if you are looking to update your wardrobe this season, I highly recommend considering a new floppy hat and a comfy, cozy sweater (or two) in a rich jewel tone.

I travel a lot both personally and professionally, so am always on the hunt for comfy layering pieces to keep me cozy to and fro. So when ToAdorn (one of my very favorite daily deal sites) gifted me this darling cardigan from Tara Lynn’s Boutique, I knew it was going to be a staple piece in my wardrobe. And it most definitely is. It’s just one of those easy pieces that can be tossed on over just about anything, can be easily tucked into your purse or carry on for travel, and my very favorite part (besides the stripes, obviously)? I love a good hat. And while I have been really into fedora’s the last couple of years, I think that this year, the Panama hat might just be my new favorite. But since I am a firm believer that a gal can never have too many hats in her wardrobe, there will be plenty of room for both in mine this season. Not only are hats an ideal statement piece, but they are the perfect secret weapon for combating those less than stellar hair days…
