Back To Basics

Sometimes it’s hard to beat a basic tee back to boyfriend jeans. In fact, it’s one of my favorite go-to looks.  It’s also a super easy outfit to take from day to night- just add a fab pair of heels and some statement jewelry, and you’re off!  Easy as one, two, three!

Crop It Like It’s Hot

I loved the crop shirt trend the last go around and fondly remember wearing cute crops with overalls and Birks. Heck, I was even wearing crop tops with low-rise jeans performing at the bars in Nashville back in the day! I was also in my late teens/early twenties at the time-so bearing a little midriff seemed perfectly acceptable.  But now that the crop top trend is back, and finding me in my early 30’s, I’ve been a little unsure as to how to tackle this trend.  Because at my age, I’m certainly not going to be running around with my navel hanging out!  And while I’ve done some cute layering looks with crops, that doesn’t exactly work during the warmer summer months.  So for those of you finding yourselves in the same predicament as me, I have found that a super cute and age appropriate way to wear a crop top, is with a high-wasited skirt.  It still gives you the look and feel of the crop, but without baring all of the skin!  And trust me, your belly button will thank you!

Shifty

I LOVE a good shift dress.  Not only are they the ultimate in comfort, but they are a perfect piece to wear to work during the summer months.  Easy, breezy, and professional.  They are also a great transitional piece to take from day to night, or casual to dressy.  If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you can follow me here) then you know I wore this dress paired with a denim vest to a friend’s baby shower over the weekend, which gave it a slightly more casual vibe than today’s post.  Once again, another versatile piece that is great to add to any gal’s wardrobe!

Dressy

I have made a pledge this year to wear more dresses.  I’m not quite sure why, but I naturally tend to gravitate towards jeans, heels, and cute tops.  But it gets so hot in the SLC during the summer months, that dresses are really a must.  PLUS they are so cute and comfy and fun and I am really loving all of the vibrant prints and colors that I am seeing available in stores this season.  Case and point?  The dress in today’s post.  Not only does the tribal print of this dress lend itself well back to denim, but because it showcases so many different colors, it will be an easy piece to style multiple ways this summer.  And in my book, versatile pieces like this are the key to expanding your wardrobe without spending a lot of money!

P.S.  If you live in the SLC and love coffee, be sure to stop by the new Publik Coffee.  We stopped in to check it out over Memorial Day weekend and fell in love!  It’s one of the cooler places I’ve been in the SLC.  In fact, it’s actually where we shot these photos. And not only is their coffee and ambiance amazing, but they have an entire menu dedicated solely to different kinds of toast.  Brilliant!

Working Girl

Happy Friday, sweet friends!  I hope you have all had a great week.  I was on the road for work, so despite my best intentions to get some blog posts up and running, my nights were spent getting caught up and prepped for meetings.  But today, I’m back!  And I am excited to share with you a typical outfit that I would wear to work.  Because I am on the road so much for my job (you can read about what I do here), on planes, in cars, and in and out of Executive meetings, I am always looking for work appropriate (and fashionable) outfits that are also super comfy and practical.  The Express Portofino shirt has become a staple in my closet (it comes in TONS of cute colors and prints), and I love pairing it back to simple black skinnies, basic jewelry, and a fun pump or heel for a little pop of color. I have found this to be a great basic formula for an easy wear-to-work outfit that works for just about any occaision.  Not to mention that this combo also looks fantastic with a blazer for a little more dressed up look!

Spring Must-Haves (for your feet!)

Before I became an Executive with Macy’s, I was a Senior Footwear Buyer at both Sundance Catalog and Overstock.com.  So it should come as no surprise that I really (I mean really) LOVE shoes!  And so today, because footwear is off the chain this spring, I wanted to share my favorite (and affordable!) picks of the season with all of you…Spring Shoes

Happy hump day, dolls!  And happy shoe shopping!

Black and Blue

As I’ve said quite a few times this Spring, I am loving the color blue-especially anything in cobalt.  It is such a rich, gorgeous color and looks great back to a multitude of other colors.  But despite it’s versatility, sometimes pairing it back to plain old black is the perfect combination…

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I had a fantastic birthday celebration in Vegas, but I must admit, I’m a little sad it’s all over.  Sometimes the things we look forward to the most always seem to pass us by the most quickly, don’t they? And a very special thank you to all of you for the sweet birthday wishes over the weekend.  I appreciate you all SO much and you helped to make my day extra special!

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Balloons…

I have always wanted to do a blog post with balloons (thanks a lot, Pinterest), but the opportunity had just really never presented itself.  That is until yesterday, when J surprised me with flowers and balloons before we left town for a quick weekend birthday celebration. And so today, in honor of my birthday, I thought I would celebrate by accessorizing my outfit with a whole bunch of pink balloons.  Because if you can’t accessorize with balloons on your birthday, then really, when can you?
