Brunch

Yesterday I mentioned that I celebrated the wedding of two dear friends this past weekend.  And today’s outfit is what I wore to the brunch the day after the wedding. I have worn this plaid shirt a ton over the last few months because it’s a super easy piece to style in a multitude of different ways (it was last featured on the blog here). So it was a no-brainer to throw on, and left me feeling super comfy, yet put together.

Cold Shoulder

It felt like spring here in the SLC this weekend, so I used it as an opportunity to take my pretty new sweater out for a spin.  And I have to say, it really is the perfect transitional piece.  Not only are the colors and the off-the-shoulder styling perfect for spring, but the fabric is super warm and cozy, which makes it appropriate to wear now.  This is definitely a piece that will be getting a lot of use in my wardrobe as we transition from winter to spring.

Yellow Pop

My mom has always had great taste.  And even as an adult, I always anxiously anticipate the fun gifts she will spoil me with on special occasions.  And this yellow clutch, along with my necklace, are not only two of my very favorite Christmas gifts (courtesy of my sweet mom), but they are both staples that will remain relevant in my wardrobe for a long time to come.  Plus, who says you can’t wear sequins and feathers after the holidays?

Skirting the Issue

If you have been following my blog for a while, then you might remember that this past summer, I made a promise to push myself out of my comfort zone and wear more dresses.  While it was difficult at first, I was so glad I did it and really felt like it pushed me to think outside of the box.

So, I have been trying the same thing this winter.  But because of the colder weather, I have found it to be a little more challenging.  That is why I have loved this skirt so much.  Not only is it a beautiful, thick, flannel material, but it has a nice lining, and is the perfect length for the winter months.  So it’s been an ideal piece for me to style when I’m making an effort to wear something other than just jeans or leggings (although it looks great with leggings too! ha!)!

beaUTAHful

I am so excited to finally be sharing these photos that I shot with the talented ladies of LC Photography late in the Fall.  If you are local to Utah, you should definitely check them out.  Not only are they amazing at what they do, but they are really fun to work with.  And if you are ever in need of a floral crown (and rest assured, EVERY girl should own one-trust me), also be sure to check out my friend Stevi’s Etsy store.  She truly makes the most incredible things and is equally as wonderful to work with!

Merry Merry

Merry Christmas Eve, sweet friends.  I just wanted to take a minute away from the hustle and bustle of all of the craziness and wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas.

I have also been thinking a lot this Christmas season, that while it truly is the most wonderful time of the year for many, for equally as many, it can truly be one of the toughest times of the year.  So I would challenge you all that as you are out and about running last-minute errands today, to follow through on those little acts of kindness that tug at our heart-strings but are so easy ignore the busier we are.

If you think something nice about a stranger you see, tell them.  Open or hold a door for someone.  Don’t be impatient with the sales clerk checking you out.  Smile and say “hello” or “Merry Christmas”  to people you pass.  Buy a drink for someone at Starbucks.  Help a little old lady with her groceries.  Tell your family and friends how much you love and appreciate them. No matter how big or how small, YOU have the ability to really make a difference for someone who is hurting this holiday season and be a light for all to see the true meaning of Christmas.  I love you all so much and am so grateful for all of your support this year.  Thank YOU so much for following along with me on this journey.

Twirly Girl

When I was a little girl, I LOVED skirts that I could twirl in.  I mean really, what little girl doesn’t? And even as an adult, I am still drawn pretty feminine skirts and dresses that make me feel like twirling around like a little kid.  And this gorgeous polka tulle skirt from Dainty Jewells does just that.  I mean really, tulle AND polka dots?  You had me with just the tulle!

If you aren’t familiar with Dainty Jewells, be sure to check them out.  They have so many beautiful and unique pieces on their site that you won’t find in a typical department store.  And if you are anything like me, it’s always important to invest in those special pieces for your wardrobe that make you a stand out.  And Dainty Jewells provides exactly that type of clothing at an affordable price.  They also have affordable bridesmaid dresses as well.  You can shop my skirt and some of my other favorite items below!

Cowl

I love a good turtleneck.  But I also love a good cowl neck.  And this cute and cozy waffle knit cowl from Free People has been a go-to for me all season.  My favorite pieces are those that answer the inevitable frustration of looking in your closet and feeling like you have nothing to wear, and this top does that flawlessly.  Plus, it’s on major sale right now too!

Pops Of Red

No matter the time of year, I always love a good pop of red.  Whether it’s a pair of shoes, a top, a cute bag or scarf, or even a bold red lip, it’s a simple way to change-up a favorite outfit, or add some interest to your look.  And it’s especially fitting this time of year with Christmas just around the corner!
