Casual

J and I are officially on vacation this week.  Hooray!  And because we are road tripping from Utah to Montana, and will be spending our time on the water, in Glacier National Park, biking, and hanging with family and friends, my attire for the week is going to be pretty casual.  In fact, most days you will probably find me in something pretty similar to today’s outfit: a comfy worn-in tee, destroyed denim shorts, casual wedges, minimal makeup and jewelry, and less than styled hair.  And so today, I thought I’d show you a glimpse of the “everyday” me and hopefully provide some inspiration for what to wear in your real, everyday summer casual life!

Happy Monday!

Rawr!

I love leopard.  And while I tend to gravitate towards wearing it more often during the cooler months-it is perfectly acceptable during the summer time too.  Especially when paired back to a bright lip and fun accessories.  So if your leopard prints are hanging out in the back of your closet this summer, maybe it’s time to pull them out, dust them off, and give them some summer love!

Neon Crush

Clearly I am obsessed with neon yellow right now.  It is such a bright and happy color and just oozes summer time to me.  So when I saw this neon yellow lace dress at JCrew, I knew it was the perfect thing to add to my closet.  And because I wanted to be able to wear it not just on special occasions, but on casual ones too, pairing it back to an uber cool surplus vest seemed like just the ticket to tone it down a notch.  And if you’re a regular follower of this blog, then you know I love a good completer piece.  But be sure to check back later this week, as I’ll be showing you how I wore this dress without the vest too!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I have to tell you guys, my travel schedule has been so crazy, between vacation, work, and a bike race this weekend for the hubs, I woke up in 5 (5!!!) different town last week.  So I couldn’t be happier that I am going to be home (and sleeping in my own bed!) for the next two weeks!  Hallelujah!

Happy Monday, dolls!

Denim on Denim

I’m always a little hesitant to wear two denim pieces together. It probably stems from growing up in Montana and not wanting to be caught in the dreaded “Canadian Tuxedo” (or as I am sure they call it, the “Montana Tuxedo”).  But I have found that if your two denims differ enough, then wearing denim on denim is perfectly acceptable, and even quite stylish given the current trend!  So take it from me and don’t be afraid to rock your denim pieces together-just make sure you have some contrast!

Lemon Lime

YOU GUYS!  I am back!  My apologies for the radio silence on the blog last week!  I was traveling for work and on vacation and between our crazy adventures and some unexpected technical issues with my memory card (I lost all of the outfit posts I had planned!), I just couldn’t get any content up.  But boy did I miss you all and couldn’t be happier to be back and sharing today’s post!

If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you can follow me here), then you know I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with the incredibly talented LC Photography a couple of weeks ago.  I had such an amazing time working with them and was so happy to finally have the perfect opportunity to shoot my beloved neon tulle skirt from The Girl That Loves.  Tulle is all the rage right now and The Girl That Loves has an assortment of incredible colors and styles that are also extremely comfortable.  So if you are looking to indulge your girly, flirty side, then be sure to check them out!  And if you are in Utah, the be sure to check out LC Photography-they are the best!IMG_4231 IMG_3782 IMG_3791 IMG_3867 IMG_4164

I hope you all had a WONDERFUL 4th of July weekend!  We spent our holiday in the cute little town of Red Lodge, Montana and had such a fantastic time.  My only wish is that it could have lasted just a little bit longer. But isn’t that how it usually goes???

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by, and happy Monday!

White Out

I love white bags and have been wanting to add one to my collection for quite some time.  And while I only had three specific features I knew the bag had to have (saffiano leather, gold hardware, and a structured shape), I had a really hard time finding just the right one.  Well thank goodness for Rebecca Minkoff and her huge spring sample sale coinciding with my birthday this year!  I was able to snatch up the Avery tote which is not only gorgeous (and one of my favorite RM bags EVER), but it also met all of my white bag requirements.  AND the icing on top of the cake?  I was able to get it for less than half of the regular retail price!  My favorite kind of purchase!

Back To Basics

Sometimes it’s hard to beat a basic tee back to boyfriend jeans. In fact, it’s one of my favorite go-to looks.  It’s also a super easy outfit to take from day to night- just add a fab pair of heels and some statement jewelry, and you’re off!  Easy as one, two, three!

Crop It Like It’s Hot

I loved the crop shirt trend the last go around and fondly remember wearing cute crops with overalls and Birks. Heck, I was even wearing crop tops with low-rise jeans performing at the bars in Nashville back in the day! I was also in my late teens/early twenties at the time-so bearing a little midriff seemed perfectly acceptable.  But now that the crop top trend is back, and finding me in my early 30’s, I’ve been a little unsure as to how to tackle this trend.  Because at my age, I’m certainly not going to be running around with my navel hanging out!  And while I’ve done some cute layering looks with crops, that doesn’t exactly work during the warmer summer months.  So for those of you finding yourselves in the same predicament as me, I have found that a super cute and age appropriate way to wear a crop top, is with a high-wasited skirt.  It still gives you the look and feel of the crop, but without baring all of the skin!  And trust me, your belly button will thank you!
