Booties

Today, I want to talk about booties. They are everywhere this season and I am absolutely in love with the trend. BUT I’ll be honest, I find booties very difficult to wear. I workout and bike and ski a lot, so I don’t have super skinny legs. I’m also short (not quite 5’4″), so I find that most booties can tend to make me look thick in the legs and even shorter than I already am! And that is definitely not look I’m going for! Ha! I’ve tried on countless pairs and always love them on the rack and on other people, but seldom like them on myself. However, I have finally found the trick to the perfect bootie for all you gals out there who are struggling with this trend like me. And the secret, my friends? Booties that dip down in the front, or that are a little closer to a pump than a bootie (like the pair in today’s post-a shootie, if you will). Seriously, I can’t tell you what a difference a little dip in the front will make for you and the length it will give you back in your legs. Up On The Roof

I love anything that sparkles. Especially if it adds an element of fun to an otherwise classic piece. So when I saw this jacket at Express while I was in SF last wee, I knew it was a perfect addition to my closet. I wear denim jackets all the time (especially this time of year), and I love that I now have a bit of a dressier option in my closet. I can tell this jacket is going to be on heavy repeat in my closet this year!

The Road Less Traveled

Fall in Utah is my favorite. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it seems to last forever and the weather is unbelievably amazing. I seriously can’t imagine a better place to be for the months of September and October. And with the fall foliage at a frenzy right now, I am trying desperately to enjoy every second of it before the snow starts to fly-which means weekends spent at the farmer’s market, watching bike races, and checking out all of the beautiful fall colors. And I have to say that cozy sweaters and comfy booties have been my go-to weekend uniform as of late-particularly if they are cognac and gray…

Well hello there, Friday! And hello there, sweet readers! I am so glad to be back with another outfit post for you guys today! My apologies for the radio silence, but I was traveling all week for work, and it poured rain all last weekend, so I fell a little behind with my outfit photos. But the good news is I’m back, AND it’s the end of another work week! So what better way to kick off the first weekend of the glorious month of October than by showcasing my favorite buffalo plaid shirt and destroyed black skinnies!

Plaid About You

One of my favorite things about Fall fashion? PLAID! And now that the temps are finally starting to cool off a little in the SLC, I am happy to start rocking all of my favorite button downs again. This shirt was a staple in my closet last Fall, and it’s already well on its way to being a staple piece again this season. Not only does it bode well with denim, but it also looks great dressed up with a pop of leopard!

I am guessing if you follow this blog regularly, then it should come as no surprise that a t-shirt, ripped skinnies, and a great pair of pumps is my go-too outfit. It’s such an easy combo and works perfectly for so many different types of events and outings. And while I am fond of this outfit all year round, I especially love it in the Fall season when I can incorporate another one of my very favorite items-a classic moto jacket!

Army Green

I’ve got a thing for army green-no matter the season. But every year when Fall arrives, it seems to be on with a vengeance in my wardrobe. Especially if I can wear it with a little leopard. And while I would normally gravitate towards styling this outfit with denim, I wanted to give one of my favorite summer skirts one final hurrah for the season. And even though the airy gauze and tulle material of this skirt with it’s delicate floral embroidery lends itself incredibly well to warmer weather, I am pleasantly surprised how a little army green and a pop of leopard make it feel perfectly acceptable for the fall season. And you should see it with a leather jacket!! Maybe I won’t be putting this one away just yet…

Black and White

I love the black and white trend this season. And because black is such a staple (and something I know all of you already own in your own personal wardrobes), this should be an easy trend for anyone to get in on this season without necessarily having to pick up anything new. And while black and white is a relatively safe trend to try, bordering on the more serious and sophisticated side of style, remember that it’s okay to have a little fun with it and think outside of the box too-like mixing graphic prints and stripes together.

Coral Crush

Sometimes I find that daytime events can be a bit tricky to dress for. So when I had the chance to celebrate with my sister-in-law at her baby shower while we were on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I was feeling a bit stumped as to what to wear. I knew I wanted to wear my new chiffon skirt from the Merle Norman store in Draper (see this post), but it felt a little dressy for a daytime event. So after tearing through everything in my suitcase, I settled on a bright coral t-shirt tank (tied in a knot to tone things down a notch), and of course went with my all-time favorite tried-and-true neon coral pumps, and gold accessories. And to be honest? I LOVE the way this outfit turned out and think it would be the perfect choice for a plethora of occasions-day or night.

Secret Garden

Well, despite my best intentions last week, I just could not get it together to get any content up on the blog. I thought I would have plenty of time to snap and share outfit photos, but we were so busy boating, rafting, fishing, hitting Glacier National Park, and enjoying family and friends, that there just wasn’t a lot of downtime. So my apologies for the lack of posts!

Fortunately, J and I did manage to snap off a few outfit shots on the last night of our trip at my mom and dad’s house-including these photos taken in my mom’s GORGEOUS garden. My parent’s yard is stunning and I wish I could take blog photos there all the time! In fact, it was in this very garden that I took some of my senior pictures! Crazy to think of how long ago that was!
