Tulle Cool For School

Ahhh tulle, how I love you so.  So fun, so whimsical, and the perfect fabrication to make any girl feel like a princess.  And let me tell you ladies, tulle isn’t just for ballerinas anymore.  So if you are looking for something different (and super fun!) to add to your wardrobe this spring, then a tulle skirt is the ticket.  You can wear them back to anything from a t-shirt, to a blouse, to a button down, to a jean-jacket.  Rest assured, you will be pleasantly surprised at the plethora of things you will able to style your tulle skirt with.  But perhaps more importantly, how fabulous it will make you feel…

Leopard

Leopard makes everything better. Well not really, but it does make just about every outfit better. So if you are looking for a quick and easy way to take an otherwise simple outfit up a notch, then try adding a leopard belt, purse, scarf, or even a pair of leopard shoes. And I promise you, it will do just the trick…

Date Night

I love a good date night outfit. And while I normally use date night as an excuse to wear a cute dress or skirt, sometimes you just can’t beat a good pair of jeans and a sparkly top. Especially when you add some fun accessories…

And of course in addition to a great outfit, who doesn’t love a cute pair of shoes?  And even better?  A cute, comfy, and, affordable pair of shoes!  And these wedges fit the bill.  In fact, I have them in another color (which you can see here) and I’m pretty sure both pairs will be important staples in my wardrobe this summer.  Plus, right now they are on sale for under $30.  Get them before they’re gone!!

Come Fly With Me

I am on the road a lot for work. And because I am in stores when traveling and have to wear all black, dressing for travel tends to be a fairly easy task. But when I travel for leisure, I find dressing for flights is not quite as easy. Comfort is key, but for me, sweat pants are definitely not an option. Instead, I like to select outfits that are not only comfortable and casual, but that are also just fashionable enough to have the ability to take me straight from the airport to lunch, dinner, drinks, or wherever I might need to go when I land!

J and I spent this past weekend in North Dakota visiting his family before his parents make the move to Montana in April.  It was a bittersweet trip, but we had a fabulous time and shared lots of laughs and memories with two very special grandma’s, Justin’s mom and dad, and an amazing group of aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended family.  It was a very special weekend and I am feeling extra blessed to have married into such a wonderful family!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Sugar and Spice

One thing I love about fashion right now is that just about anything goes. And one look that has particularly caught my eye as of late is mixing girly sequins back to rough and tumble boots (see this post) and plaids. I love the unexpected contrast and the mix of texture and styles. And of course it’s always fun to throw in a little print mixing to sweeten the pot.

I knew I had to have this JCrew sequin shirt the minute I saw it.  But I could not bring myself to pay the full ticket price for it, so I had to wait, and wait, and then wait some more for it to go on sale.  But my patience paid off.  A piece I love for a fraction of the retail price?  Can’t beat that.  Hope you are all having a great week-thank goodness it’s a short one!

Primary

I love my red skinny jeans. In fact, I’ve found over the last year or so that despite their vibrant hue, they are just about as versatile as blue jeans. And in addition to going with just about anything, they are also just plain fun. Especially when mixed with the unexpected-like neon and snow leopard.

I love mixing primary colors together-there is just something so refreshing and simple about the combination.  It’s sort of like going back to the basics.  But a word to the wise, when mixing primary colors, limit yourself to two at a time.  Otherwise, you might end up looking more like a finger painting project you did in the 1st grade rather than a fashionista.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Colored Skinnies

Since I obviously love color, it should come as no surprise that I also love the whole colored denim trend. However, I have found it to be a struggle fo find the colors I want in the brands that I love, or a color that I love in a brand that fits. And I would even go so far as to say that generally most of the colored leggings and jeans that are out there are very ill-fitting (especially if you have any curves at all-which I do).

So with that, I am happy to announce that I have finally found an incredible denim resource with a great selection of colored skinnies, denim skinnies, and super cute denim bootcuts. They are figure flattering, comfortable, don’t sag in the booty (like A LOT of brands out there), and are actually affordable.  Almost seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? But rest assured, I tell you, because it most definitely is not!

The brand is called Else and it is a more affordable extension of the Joe’s jeans line (retailing for around $68 each), made exclusively for Macy’s. And really, how great is that? All of the awesome fit properties and the quality of Joe’s for almost half the price. I love them so much, I have picked them up in a dark denim wash, black(which are great for work), red, purple(seen here), and my new favorite color that I just can’t get enough of…

So if you are in the market for a great fitting, high quality pair of skinnies, definitely check out Else at your local Macy’s or online (stocks and colors are pretty picked over right now, but a new delivery should hit within the next week or two).  I am absolutely thrilled with mine and wanted to give them some blog love so that you all could be in the secret too.  And please feel free reach out to me with any questions you might have about the brand or the fit, and I would be happy to help!!

Happy shopping!!
