I am a big fan of the blanket scarf trend. When the temps drops and there is snow on the ground, there is just something so cozy and comforting about wrapping up in one. So when I was in SF a couple of weeks ago for business meetings, I popped into Zara to check out their assortment for the season (since they are the authority in chic blanket scarves). And I have to say that while I was smitten with the entire collection (and a lot of other things in the store, for that matter), the scarf below was the one that stole my heart. And now that it has finally cooled off in the SLC, I can already tell that it is going to be a go-to item in my closet this season!

And while l love my neutrals this time of year, I am finding a pop of color to be a welcome addition to my Fall wardrobe. Booties

Today, I want to talk about booties. They are everywhere this season and I am absolutely in love with the trend. BUT I’ll be honest, I find booties very difficult to wear. I workout and bike and ski a lot, so I don’t have super skinny legs. I’m also short (not quite 5’4″), so I find that most booties can tend to make me look thick in the legs and even shorter than I already am! And that is definitely not look I’m going for! Ha! I’ve tried on countless pairs and always love them on the rack and on other people, but seldom like them on myself. However, I have finally found the trick to the perfect bootie for all you gals out there who are struggling with this trend like me. And the secret, my friends? Booties that dip down in the front, or that are a little closer to a pump than a bootie (like the pair in today’s post-a shootie, if you will). Seriously, I can’t tell you what a difference a little dip in the front will make for you and the length it will give you back in your legs. So if you have been feeling anything like me when it comes to booties-don’t give up! I’ve linked up some of my favorite, and (more importantly) flattering booties below!

Plaid To The Bone

Every fall (it never fails), I become plaid obsessed. Something about cool weather, football, chili, tailgating, scarves, and boots makes want to break out all of my favorite plaid shirts. So my apologies in advance if you are seeing an abundance of plaid on the blog this season, but I just can’t help myself. I had the privilege of attending their grand opening last week, and let me tell you, the store is darling and they have so many fantastic things in stock right now! Fall in Utah is my favorite. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it seems to last forever and the weather is unbelievably amazing. I seriously can’t imagine a better place to be for the months of September and October. And with the fall foliage at a frenzy right now, I am trying desperately to enjoy every second of it before the snow starts to fly-which means weekends spent at the farmer’s market, watching bike races, and checking out all of the beautiful fall colors. And I have to say that cozy sweaters and comfy booties have been my go-to weekend uniform as of late-particularly if they are cognac and gray…

My apologies for the radio silence, but I was traveling all week for work, and it poured rain all last weekend, so I fell a little behind with my outfit photos. One of my favorite things about Fall fashion? PLAID! And now that the temps are finally starting to cool off a little in the SLC, I am happy to start rocking all of my favorite button downs again. This shirt was a staple in my closet last Fall, and it’s already well on its way to being a staple piece again this season. It’s such an easy combo and works perfectly for so many different types of events and outings.
