I love a good monochromatic combination. And while my instinct is usually to use neutrals for monochromatic looks, this necklace/sweater combo has convinced me that it works really well with with color (especially neon!) too!!

I have had my eye on this leopard sleeved Townsen sweatshirt for SO LONG! But I just couldn’t justify paying full price for it (because I don’t pay full price for anything-seriously!). So when it went on sale for less than half price right after Christmas, I knew I had to pounce (no pun intended!). And I am certainly glad that I did. If you follow me on Instagram (AllDolledUpBlog), then you know I rocked a very similar outfit to this one a couple of weeks ago for a shopping date with one of my best friends at Nordstrom. And there was so much interest in the details of my look, that I decided it should make an appearance on the blog. So all of you ladies who wanted outfit details, please see below!

I hope that you all had a most wonderful Super Bowl weekend! We had a great weekend skiing at the resorts and in the backcountry, celebrating the 4th birthday of one of our very favorite little guys, and of course cheering on the Seahawks and the Broncos in the Super Bowl! It’s not very often that all your homies from the west make it into the big dance. So even though we may have slightly sided with the Broncos (Peyton is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met), it was still pretty rad to see the west represent!

Raven + Lily

I am pretty sure that yesterday was the first Monday that I haven’t shared a blog post since I launched All Dolled Up. And if you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you should: alldolledupblog), then you know I have been in Boulder cheering on my hubby at Cyclorcross Nationals. And while we had a really fun weekend, horrible roads plus a sick husband on the drive home meant having to unexpectedly stay the night in a hotel in the middle-of-nowhere Wyoming. So my apologies for missing yesterday!

But now that I am back, I wanted to share with you an amazing company called Raven + Lily. I love to shop fair trade and have shared quite a few fair trade finds and companies on the blog in the past, and so I thought it was important to share the ah-mazingness of Raven + Lily with all of you. Raven + Lily is a company founded by two women who wanted to use fashion and ethical design as a “a platform to utilize those passions to alleviate poverty among women”. The necklace I am wearing in today’s post is a favorite of mine from their Ethiopian Collection and was created by HIV positive women from handmade beads made of melted bullet casings from previous war conflicts. Talk about a powerful statement necklace. You can read more about Raven + Lily here, and you can shop their incredibly gorgeous collection here, including designs from Ethiopia, Cambodia, and India. When we are so blessed to live in this great country, and live the lives that we do, I think it’s incredibly important to give back when we can and support companies that empower women around the globe…

This fall, J and I decided that we wanted some updated pictures of the two of us. And so, we enlisted the help of our super talented friend Sam Kanzler of Kanzler Foto. She and her hubby had taken some photos of J and me a few years ago, and not only were they amazing, but the four of us became fast friends. Besides being incredibly talented, Mike and Sam are two of the most generous, kindest, and funniest people that I know. They are just those kind of friends you feel especially blessed to have found in life. I love a good hat. In fact, on most winter weekends, you can almost always find me wearing one (most likely covering up helmet hair from a day on the slopes). If you were to run into me on a typical Saturday in the Fall, I would most likely be wearing something similar to today’s outfit. In my book, it’s tough to beat a staple chambray shirt (plaid is also often on repeat), my favorite skinnies, a vest for layering, and a pair of boots comfy enough for running errands or cheering my hubby on at a Cyclocross race. This is definitely my go-to fall look, and if I am being honest, it has been for the last couple of years. Not super exciting, I know. But sometimes practicality wins out over fashion…

I kind of feel like light colored denim has the same stigma as white after labor day. But this season it’s all about light denim-all year round. And while I have been all about wearing lighter washes with sweaters and button downs, for some reason, I was having a hard time coming up with ways to style my denim jacket. But thank goodness for Pinterest which inspired me to try it back to leopard. And I have to say, I am pretty sure this won’t be the last you’ll see of it this season!
