Booties

Today, I want to talk about booties. They are everywhere this season and I am absolutely in love with the trend. BUT I’ll be honest, I find booties very difficult to wear. I workout and bike and ski a lot, so I don’t have super skinny legs. I’m also short (not quite 5’4″), so I find that most booties can tend to make me look thick in the legs and even shorter than I already am! And that is definitely not look I’m going for! Ha! I’ve tried on countless pairs and always love them on the rack and on other people, but seldom like them on myself. However, I have finally found the trick to the perfect bootie for all you gals out there who are struggling with this trend like me. And the secret, my friends? Booties that dip down in the front, or that are a little closer to a pump than a bootie (like the pair in today’s post-a shootie, if you will). Seriously, I can’t tell you what a difference a little dip in the front will make for you and the length it will give you back in your legs. The Road Less Traveled

Fall in Utah is my favorite. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it seems to last forever and the weather is unbelievably amazing. I seriously can’t imagine a better place to be for the months of September and October. And with the fall foliage at a frenzy right now, I am trying desperately to enjoy every second of it before the snow starts to fly-which means weekends spent at the farmer’s market, watching bike races, and checking out all of the beautiful fall colors. And I have to say that cozy sweaters and comfy booties have been my go-to weekend uniform as of late-particularly if they are cognac and gray…

I am guessing if you follow this blog regularly, then it should come as no surprise that a t-shirt, ripped skinnies, and a great pair of pumps is my go-too outfit. It’s such an easy combo and works perfectly for so many different types of events and outings. Fire In the Sky

Happy Friday everyone! Remember how I said earlier in the week that I lost all of the outfit photos I had taken while we were on vacation? Well thanks to my hubby, I was able to salvage the photos from one outfit. And while I am still sad about the others, one, is certainly better than none! So with that said, I have to tell you guys that I am obsessed with this JCrew top. I had been eyeing it for quite some time and immediately snatched it up when it went on sale. The cute embroidered print reminds me of a pink and white Easter dress that I had when I was a little girl, and you all know how much I LOVE neon yellow-a little nostalgia and my favorite pop of color all rolled into one! Plus, it’s a great statement top that can be easily dressed up or down. And when the heat index is high, in my closet, easy, breezy, fun tops like these rule!

Denim on Denim

I’m always a little hesitant to wear two denim pieces together. It probably stems from growing up in Montana and not wanting to be caught in the dreaded “Canadian Tuxedo” (or as I am sure they call it, the “Montana Tuxedo”). But I have found that if your two denims differ enough, then wearing denim on denim is perfectly acceptable, and even quite stylish given the current trend! So take it from me and don’t be afraid to rock your denim pieces together-just make sure you have some contrast!

White Out

I love white bags and have been wanting to add one to my collection for quite some time. And while I only had three specific features I knew the bag had to have (saffiano leather, gold hardware, and a structured shape), I had a really hard time finding just the right one. Well thank goodness for Rebecca Minkoff and her huge spring sample sale coinciding with my birthday this year! I was able to snatch up the Avery tote which is not only gorgeous (and one of my favorite RM bags EVER), but it also met all of my white bag requirements. AND the icing on top of the cake? I was able to get it for less than half of the regular retail price! My favorite kind of purchase!
