Balloon Sleeves

I stalked this top online forever.  But I just didn’t think I could pull off the balloon sleeves.  Bell sleeves are one thing, but this exaggerated version is a whole different story.  But I have to say, I am so glad I finally took the plunge.  It’s such a fun piece to have in my wardrobe, and surprisingly goes with so many different things.  Is this a trend you guys would ever try?  I’d love to know!

Leopard Tunic+A Little Update

It’s hard to believe it’s been exactly 3 months since my car accident.  In some ways, it feels like 3 months of my life have been completely lost to the fog of this concussion, as I’ve battled severe sleep deprivation, fatigue, a newfound fear of driving, mild dizziness, vision issues, and a roller coaster of emotions on top of some already difficult life circumstances.  I haven’t been able to partake in a lot of the things that I love, like skiing, biking, Orange Theory, hiking, going out with friends, or even shopping.  And despite really disliking hospitals, I have found myself having to go to countless appointments with my neurologist, my neuropsychologist, and my balance and mobility therapist. Fortunately, I’ve been starting to see some pretty significant improvements over the last couple of weeks, and am beginning to feel more like myself.  But looking at the last 3 months as whole, if I’m being honest, it’s been really, really hard.  And some days I kind of just want to wallow in my own self pity. Ha!

I think I realized a few weeks ago that one thing I was really struggling with was the fact that someone else’s bad decision has had such a negative and lasting impact on my life.  And I was feeling kind of angry about it.  But then one morning I was sitting in my neuropsychologist’s office, and he asked me if I am the type of person who believes that bad things just happen, or if I believe that bad things (or good) happen for a reason.  And for me there was no hesitation.  As a Believer, I am definitely a person who believes the latter.  While we can’t always see the bigger picture, his question put things into perspective and reminded me that Jesus is authoring the story of our lives.  And in some way, shape or form, this accident is a part of my story.  One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Romans 5:3-4: “suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character, hope”.  I’ve seen friends recently walk this out so well and have admired them so much.  And as I sat in that office that morning, I was overcome, because I realized that I too can persevere.  So then and there, I made the decision to stop feeling sorry for myself and to commit to walking  through the aftermath of my head injury in this way, with perseverance, character, and hope. Because while I can’t control the decisions and actions of others, I can control my own.

So here’s to a positive mindset, a grateful heart, continued improvement, and (what you probably really came here for), more outfit posts!!  And a huge thank you to you all for all of your support.  You guys really are the best.

Duster

I love a good duster cardigan.  But at only 5’3″, I tend to shy away from them because they typically overwhelm me.  Well thank goodness for Cabi.  Because like everything else they make, the moment I put this sweater on, I couldn’t believe how flattering it was.  Even on my short frame!  And I especially love the placement of the stripes, which make it feel like a really fresh take on an old classic.  A definite must-have for any wardrobe!

Happy, happy Friday sweet friends!  AND happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Does anyone have any fun plans tonight?

Bell Sleeves and Pirate Shirts

If you follow me over on Insta (@alldolledupblog), you might know how much I LOVE the bell sleeve trend.  But I do have a confession.  Every time I put one on,  I can’t help but think of the Jerry Seinfeld episode with the pirate shirt.  I’m probably totally aging myself here, but you guys know what I’m talking about, right? So I have to ask, does this trend make anyone else think of the same thing??? And more importantly, is this a trend that you guys are into this Spring?  Leave a comment below-I’d love to know!

Since I haven’t blogged very much in such a long time, Chloe wanted to make sure she stopped by to say hello too.

Hope you guys are having a fab week!

Floral

Well hello again, sweet friends.  It certainly has been a while since I’ve posted on the blog.  In case you missed it, I was in a bad car accident right after Christmas, and have been recovering from a pretty severe concussion for the last couple of months.  To be honest, it’s been a rough road.  I had absolutely no idea I’d be down and out for so long.  And while I’m still not back to my normal self, I am finally starting to make some progress. Thank goodness!

And now that I’m feeling a little better, I couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with one of my go-to brands, Cabi clothing, to show you some of my favorite pieces from their Spring 2017 line.  If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been on a floral kick lately.  So when I saw this perfect pink floral tank in the Cabi line, it was the first things I ordered.  And not only does it look great layered now, but it has a super cute neckline and I can’t wait to wear it during the summer months!  Definitely a favorite piece in my wardrobe.

Velvet Jumpsuit for NYE

I had good intentions of bringing you festive and sequin-filled NYE inspired posts all week.  But unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned, and I was involved in a pretty major car accident on Tuesday morning. While my car was totaled, I was fortunate enough to walk away from the accident with only a concussion and minor injuries.  And while I am grateful to be alright, it was also a good reminder of how precious life is.

And of course it’s got me thinking.  As events like these often do.  It’s so easy in this day and age to put together and present a perfectly curated life through social media.  But I’m feeling led to share with you guys that my life is anything but perfect.  And if I’m being totally honest, I can also tell you that 2016 has been the hardest, most challenging year of my life.  And I’ve really been struggling this week to wrap my head around how it could possibly be ending with a serious accident on top of everything else. But rather than let myself get down and discouraged (which I’ve totally been doing), I’m reminding myself in times like these, that it’s important to take a step back, take inventory of the blessings you DO have in life, find the joy in the hurt, the laughter in the messiness, surround yourself with those who love you most, and thank God for His grace, protection, forgiveness, and unfailing love.  That is after all, what this holiday season is all about, isn’t it?

In other (more fashion blog-worthy) news, how amazing would this green velvet jumpsuit be to wear to a NYE party (or any other party for that matter)?  If I’m feeling well enough to make it out on NYE this year, this is definitely what I’ll be wearing.  Fingers crossed!

Cheers to a better and brighter 2017!!

Plaid Coat

I love a good plaid coat.  Especially one that doesn’t break the bank, like this cozy black and white one (only $25!).  Plus, the longer length makes it super cozy to throw on for those cold, snowy days.  In fact, it’s kind of like wearing a stylish blanket!

Green for Christmas

I love red and sparkles so much, sometimes I forget about wearing green during the holidays.  So when I saw this choker top at Express, I knew it would be perfect back to my favorite black faux fur vest and studded booties.  And not only does this look work perfectly for the holidays, it will work well beyond the month of December too.

One of my favorite things to wear this time of year, is a cozy leopard coat.  Throwing one on is the perfect way to be stylishly warm, and a great option to wear over your cute outfits to and from you holiday parties this season!
