White After Labor Day

I’m baaaaaack! Been a bit of a rough week for me over here. I got some bad spider bites while we were on a float trip this past weekend and have been having an allergic reaction to them in the form of hives all over my arms and legs! Gross! Didn’t figure you all would want to see that on the blog, so I’ve just been taking it easy this week.

Fortunately, I started to feel a little better last night which is why I’m finally back today. And good thing too, because I want to talk about how much I love white pants!! I was so hesitant to buy them at first because I knew I would get them dirty (which I pretty much do every time I wear them), but it has been so worth it. Not only do they look great with almost every cute summer top in my closet (especially bright colors!), but I can’t wait to transition these bad boys into Fall with booties and oversized sweaters! Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day???

Romper Style

So now that I’ve decided I can wear the off-the-shoulder trend (see this post where I talk about how I didn’t think it would work for my body type), I can’t seem to get enough of it. Ha! Isn’t that the way that it always goes. But I have to say that for me lately, it doesn’t get much better than an off-the-shoulder romper. My husband and I love to bike in the summer and often ride our tandem road bike to dinner or drinks and apps, so I am always looking for cute outfits that are appropriate for bike riding AND date night (which is much harder than you would think!). But I have found that rompers, above all else, always seem to fit the bill. Especially when they cost less than $20!!

Summer Fashion Hacks

There are two things I am really into this summer: destroyed boyfriend shorts with heels, and orange lipstick. And for whatever reason, I seriously can’t seem to get enough either! Maybe it’s because together or alone, they both give the perfect balance of making you look like you tried, even if you really didn’t. I love a good striped dress. And with the slightly cooler weather here in the SLC that has been layering itself in with our typically hot temps, I have found that some evenings, it’s nice to have a light coat with me as an option. Plus these tassel shoes. I can’t even. I’m pretty sure they are my favorite purchase from the #NSale. They are less than $90 and also come in black and red. Fiesta!

I’ve been a little slow to hop on the off-shoulder-trend. It’s not that I don’t love it, because I do. My hesitation has been that I have broad shoulders and assumed it was a silhouette that would accentuate this and make me look wider on the top than I am. But once I started trying a few off-the-shoulder pieces on, I realized how wrong I was! And this dress is no exception. Not only is it fun and flirty, but it has beautiful laser cut trim, and makes me like I am going to a fun party or a fiesta! And even better than that? It’s under $20!!! I am really on a stripe kick these days. And this dress from Express is seriously one of my very pieces in my closet. It is cute and comfy and the perfect piece to throw on for a BBQ, bike ride, dinner at home, or for a night on the town. All you have to do is change out your shoes and jewelry and it takes on a completely different personality every time. In fact, I love this dress so much (and it’s on sale for such a great price!) that I just picked it up in two more colors! Summer Chambray

We have had a little break from the heat wave here in the SLC the past few days, which prompted me to break out my favorite lightweight summer chambray shirt. I am a fan of chambray no matter the season, but one of my favorite ways to wear it is back to a full skirt. And it was the perfect choice for the weather this week. Especially because it gave me an excuse to wear my favorite wedges. I seriously can’t get enough of these shoes!
