Fashion Fusion SLC (and a contest!)

It’s one of my very favorite weeks of the Fall-New York Fashion Week. It’s the first time we get to see a glimpse of what lies in wait for us in Spring 2014 and all of the colors and trends that will rule the season. EXCITING!!!

And for those of us who live in Salt Lake but don’t have the luxury to travel to NYC to take in all of the shows, good news! There is still a chance to celebrate in style at Fashion Place mall tomorrow night, September 6th, at 7pm for the 1st Annual Fashion Fusion Event!! This event will be centered on fashion shows from Fashion Place and the Salt Lake Community College Fashion Institute, and will feature fashion photography and art from Art Meets Fashion. Hooray For Chambray!

Oh how I love me some denim. Whether it’s a great pair of jeans, a denim jacket, a go-to pair of shorts, or a chambray shirt, I am a fan of it all. Maybe it’s my Montana roots, or maybe it’s just because denim is something everyone can wear. Either way, if you haven’t added a chambray shirt to your wardrobe yet this season, then it’s high time you took the plunge.

Now the key to wearing denim well is to select ONE piece of denim for your ensemble. Unless of course they are contrasting shades of denim, and then it’s ok to do some layering. But I definitely prefer to pair mine back to black, white, or bright colors.

Stormy Weather

While I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, one of the perks of all of the travel is that every couple of months, I get to take a trip back to my home state of Montana. And depending on the time of year and our schedules, sometimes it works out (like it did this past weekend) that J can come and join me and we can sneak in a long weekend in one of our favorite places-which also happens to be where we first met. And while the weather was cold and stormy (which required a little more layering than I’m used to this time of year), we still managed to have a great time with friends, visited all of our favorites places (and discovered some new), and were even able to sneak in a few miles on the bikes in between showers…
