FPF: The Perfect Glossy Lip

The Perfect Glossy Lip

Bonne Bell Lipsmacker (you can find this in any drug store) |  Smashbox Limitless Lipgloss | Chanel Glossimer Lip Gloss

I LOVE a good glossy lip.  And while Chanel Glossimer remains at the top of my list, I also recently discovered another lip gloss that I am enamored with-and that is Smashbox Limitless Long Wearing gloss.  It is a fantastic product and lasts an amazingly long time.  BUT it is a touch sticky on the lip so I like to layer it with my favorite chapstick.  And then recently, on a whim I layered on my favorite Glossimer (Sweet Beige) over the top and the results were perfect.  An ultra glossy lip with incredible staying power and none of that uncomfortable stickiness!

Happy Weekend!

FPF: Ode To Colored Skinnies

J and I are heading to Montana to spend the holiday with family and I am so excited I can hardly stand it.  However, I have to get through packing first-which is never an easy task for me.  With the amount I travel for work, you would think it would be a piece of cake.  But for whatever reason, it just doesn’t come easily to me.  And so, in an effort to garner some inspiration, I thought it might be helpful to take a look back at some of my favorite outfits created with colored skinnies…

For some reason, the extra week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year has really thrown me for a loop.  But I’m finally feeling back on track and think it’s safe to say that it feels like Christmas. Hooray!!!  In fact, I am counting down the minutes and seconds until the weekend officially hits.  J and I have so many fun things planned-from last minute Christmas shopping, to cocktails downtown to take in the city Christmas lights, to a Whie Elephant Christmas party with friends.  And I might even decide to eat Christmas cookies for breakfast (stranger things have happened!).  So if part of your weekend involves last minute Christmas shopping (like ours does), hopefully these gift picks under $50 will help to make your shopping adventure a little easier!

Good luck braving those crowds!!

Little Red Riding Hood

Happy Friday, everyone! I don’t know about you, but this is always one of my very favorite weekends of the year.  And  do you know why? Because Thanksgiving is awaiting us just on the other side! I love the holidays so much, I can hardly stand it.

And with the holidays literally looming just around the corner, I finally caved and brought all of my winter coats out of storage. And as I was reviewing my personal inventory, I couldn’t help but be completely drawn to my red skirted coat. With color playing such an important role in fashion this year, I think that a brightly colored coat is an important investment that everyone should make this season. And because of the color trend, finding your perfect hue should make for a fairly easy task. Red is a great basic and a good investment because it will never go out of style, but I’ve seen everything from pale pink, to mustard, to vibrant shades of blue. So really, the choice is yours.

Last night J and I went on a little date in downtown SLC. We had a fun dinner at Flemmings and attended the unveiling of the iconic candy windows at our new downtown Macy’s. It was a fun tradition to be a part of and we were so impressed. Pretty amazing that these huge ornaments are all completely made of candy!!

FPF: Pitchnic World Premiere

Some of you may remember this post that I shared back in May when Justin and I attended the annual spring fundraiser for Spy Hop (one of our favorite events of the year). But for those of you who don’t, Spy Hop is a tremendous organization in our community that gives high school kids the opportunity to participate in the arts outside of the regular classroom. And we have been blessed to have the opportunity to become involved and give our support to some of their programs. One of which is a film making program.

At the fundraiser last spring, the kids pitched 4 different films to us and we were able to bid on our favorite and help with the costs of creating the films. So last night, 6 months later, we attended the world premiere party and first time screening of these films. And this morning I am still blown away by their talent, their poise, the caliber of the films we saw, and the excitement for what lies ahead for these bright young people.

It was 72 degrees in the SLC yesterday, so I was thrilled to have the chance to wear a dress and pumps with no tights one last time this season.  But I didn’t want to look too summery, so I took one of my favorite summer dresses, and paired it back to a cardi, a cognac belt, and some leopard pumps to give it more of a fall feel.  I love pieces that you can transition from season to season.  They are the best investments you can make in your wardrobe!

Happy weekend everyone!

FPF: Gold Cuffs

I rarely wore a watch until a few years ago when J got me my first Michael Kors as a birthday gift. And now I find that I am stuck in the rut of wearing a watch every single day. So when I started seeing big gold cuffs on the runway and all over fashion magazines a few months ago, I knew it was a trend that I not only loved, but also one that would help me add some variety to my wrist fashion!

And while I know arm parties are all the rage (yes, I LOVE them too), I am really digging having the option to change things up and rock a completely different look.  Wearing two big cold cuffs is a bit bold and a bit Grecian, but a whole lot of fun.  Plus it will be a great way to dress up plain tees and sweaters during colder months.

Happy weekend everyone!  I am so excited that it’s FINALLY here!!!

FPF: The Bubble Necklace

If you don’t know what a bubble necklace is yet, then you must be living under a rock (sorry, but true!). Thanks to the original JCrew version, which came out 2 years ago, the bubble necklace has taken the fashion world by storm and is now a staple across fashion blogs, boutiques, and wish lists across the world. And it isn’t hard to see why. It is a fun, easy piece that is a simple way to spice up an outfit or add a pop of color to any ensemble. It is one of those things that goes with everything, and makes any outfit that much better. Which is why, of course, everyone either wants or has one-including myself (if you hadn’t noticed)…

Purple Bubble Necklace:  Ily Couture (great quality-I highly recommend)

The good news is now that the bubble necklace is so popular, you can pick them up for a fraction of the JCrew price tag.  Below is a list of options if you are looking to purchase your first one, or add another color to your collection:

FPF: Sublime Glow

Alright, moment of truth: everyone looks better with a tan. I hate to say it, but it’s true. Now I’m not talking a Jersey shore tan, but rather just a little bit of color to give your skin a healthy glow and put some color in those cheeks. But over the years, as we have become increasingly more aware of the extensive damage the sun causes, sunscreen is now a must and tanning beds are absolutely out of the question. So what is a gal to do during the long winter months to fend off that pasty white skin that will inevitably overtake all of us?

Unfortunately, the only option is a self-tanning product. Now this stuff can be messy, and smelly, and streaky, and leave your palms and nail beds bright orange if you aren’t careful. And in my opinion, most of the tanning products that I have tried are just too much of a hassle to even be worth it. But a couple of years ago I discovered L’Oreal Sublime Glow lotion, and this product is incredible. It is an actual lotion that enhances your natural skin tone leaving with you just a hint of a tan. It also has a bit of shimmer to it creating radiant looking skin that is never, ever orange or streaky. I use this product everyday, winter or summer, and really don’t think I could ever go without it. Plus, it smells great and doesn’t have that funky odor that most tanning lotions have.

L’Oreal Sublime Glow Lotion: available at CVS, and some other local retailers, but it can be really tough to find, so another good place to look is Amazon or eBay)

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Tinted Tanning Lotion:  available at most grocery stores, CVS, and Walgreens

I really can’t say enough positive things about this lotion.  It is absolutely fantastic.  And when I am feeling like adding a little more color to my skin, I mix the Sublime Glow Lotion with the Sublime Bronze Tanner for just a bit more intensity.  I have to warn though that when using the Sublime Bronze alone, it can get a little streaky, and tend to rub off around the ankles after a good workout.  But when mixed with the lotion, it works perfectly.  So if you are looking to fend off that white winter skin, while giving yourself a healthy and radiant glow, then these are the products for you!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy weekend everyone!
